Another Auld Lang Syne

Subtitled: Where We’ve Been In 2010

Happy New Year! Is it a brand new decade already? Some, like my son, would argue that 2010 marked the start of a brand new decade…but he’s just argumentative in general (thanks to his father) and anyway, according to WikiAnswers, “because there is no 0 AD, the first decade began in the year 1” and therefore, “a new decade always begins in a year that ends with the number 1.”

Now aren’t you glad I cleared that up for you?

Ahem! Without further adieu, (because, um, there’s already been enough of that), here is my retrospective for the year 2010. It was a good year.

::January::
Big White Barge

We plowed our way through another Minnesota winter (and lived to blog about it);

First Confession V

Felicity made her first confession; and

Poor Sick Puppy

Our doggie had a tummy bug.

::February::

Our Ellie

Our doggie died. This made us very, very sad.

::March::

Bubbles IV

We blew bubbles (and lots of them);

St. Patrick's Day in the Evening

We wore green (and lots of it); and

Penne Pasta II

I realized (to no one’s great surprise) that I will never be Pioneer Woman.

::April::

Easter 2010 I

We took lots of Easter pictures. There were some keepers in the bunch…

Easter 2010 II

…and there were some others that were not.

We also redefined the word “poverty.”

::May::

In honor of Mother’s Day, I published a roll-over for all the mommies of a spirited child.

Click Me

Here it is. Roll your mouse over the image. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Also in May, my baby had the audacity to turn one.

Make video montages at www.OneTrueMedia.com

I cried.

And finally, I spoke at the MN Catholic Home Educators conference.

Conference I

The crowd went wild.

::June::

In June, I took my daughter to and from ballet,

Ballet I

And I started watching LOST.

I think that was it.

(LOST was pretty…um…distracting.)

::July::

In July we celebrated our great nation…

Memorial Day I

…with Mass in the morning and homemade t-shirts in the afternoon.
Let Freedom Ring

What else? Well, my oldest daughter started soccer,

Soccer XIV

And my youngest son helped out as water boy.

Soccer IX

::August::

In August we got new hardwood floors;

New Floor III

New Floor
And we got a guinea pig.
Greta the Guinea Pig IV

I’m not sure if the two events were related. I’ll get back to you on that.

::September::

If you looked up “September” in the dictionary, this is what you’d see:

State Fair XIV

The State Fair;
schultutes
and the start of homeschooling.
Is there anything else?

Trouble
Yes, there is. We must not forget the toddler and his markers.

::October::

Texas II

October meant living La Vida Loco down south, and meeting Jenn, Nutmeg, and Charlotte. Hooray!
(They didn’t even call me “Yankee.”)
(Not that I overheard, anyway.)
Betsy's Garden

October also meant meeting Lissa (!) and living the La Vida Betsy-Tacy.

And finally, the month of October meant more roll-overs.

Click Me

(Halloween-themed this time!)

::November::

In November we went from this:

Four Wheelin' XII

To this:

First Snow II

…within a span of oh, three days.

Typical November.

::December::

In December, we did two things primarily.

Bliz VII

We shoveled snow;

Keyed (Take Two)

And we parented a toddler.

Tell me: which is harder?

Happy 2011, everyone! May your new year be bright and full of blessings, and may your piano be ever free of Sharpies.

    Happy New Year! I, for one, am very grateful you are "no pioneer woman" because I like Margaret better.

    Happy New Year! Love the photos. I tried to do a similar photo montage on my blog, but I realized I am terrible at organizing my photos throughout the year, so it was more difficult. How do you organize photos?

    Maggie,

    I am extremely dependent on Flickr for organizing my photos. (I group them together in sets.)

    You can join for free but after a certain number of photos, you need to pay a premium. Totally worth it if you take a lot of pictures and like to post them online.

    Hi – I'm a lurker, and not even a frequent lurker lately, but I have been wondering how the "Lost" journey is going for you. How far through them are you? Has anybody given you, if not spoilers, their take on the ending? Just curious, as a former lostie myself. 🙂
