A First Communion Novena

April 27, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Special Events, The Faith 22 Comments

I have been getting many, many requests for a copy of our church’s First Communion novena, which (coincidentally) Angela and I began today!

Many people come here from Jessica’s blog, Shower of Roses. However, that is not a complete link and so I have made a copy of the novena available here:

A Garden fit for a King: A First Communion Novena

Note: I included two different title pages—one for a boy and one for a girl.

May God bless you and your first communicants!

I clicked the link and it told me to request access, so I clicked request. It told me to wait for an email…waiting…waiting….waiting 😉

Oops! That's my fault, Kelly–I forgot to make the link public.

    It's fixed now.

    [fingers crossed]

It works. I can't wait to do this with Clare. I'll be thinking about you and Angela this week as you prepare….

I want to hear your menu…need ideas for May 20th!!

This was the novena we used at SMA, too. My 9yo did it last year, and I missed not having it this year for my 8yo, whose bday is today and whose First Holy Communion is tomorrow! Maybe we will pray it anyway beginning today or tomorrow … It is SO beautiful!

I got it! I actually didn't have to wait, it came in my inbox as soon as I switched pages. 🙂

Beautiful prayer! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Beautiful! Doing this novena for the third time this year with my real life Felicity. Just one nagging question — has one of the flowers changed? I was sure we didn't have "Queen Ann" before — never heard of them! Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for posting this. We started it with our daughter today. She is really enjoying it and is so very excited for her first communion. We've been reading The King of the Golden City and this works really well with that allegory. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for posting this prayer. I was looking for this novena about a year ago (joyfully anticipating the First Communion we are soon approaching), and I had found a version that could be printed in a booklet format. it was in black and white, with pictures to color of the flowers. Do you know of any version like this available? Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Mary! Thank you for your nice comment!

Unfortunately, the only novena I have is the one that I posted where you draw the photos yourself. So I would look up the flower each morning with my sweet little first communicant (Google images) and then set it as the screen saver on my computer for that day.

Many Easter blessings and congratulations at this beautiful exciting time!

I have this novena in a very old prayer booklet- published a good 80 years ago… I was just wondering why the original source isn’t cited here? I am looking to compile something similar for our school and parish but with more guided coloring as well as “ draw your own” section. Glad to see this in use!
