On Fear of the Unknown

April 28, 2010 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Prayer, Spiritual Growth, The Faith 10 Comments

Christ: My Child, in many a trial and trouble, I come to you and ask you to believe in Me. Put your confidence in Me, and prove that you mean it, by refusing to worry. If your trials were not good for you I would remove them at once.

Think: Imagination and feelings rule the lives of many. As a result they fear and avoid a number of things. They do not think with their intelligence, but with their feelings. They exaggerate the unpleasant so much, that they cannot bear to face it. They are slaves of their fears.

I must let my intelligence and God’s grace bring light and freedom into my daily life. I’ll listen often to His words as He speaks to Me through His church and through grace. By doing this I will be free of many fears.

Pray: Lord, what have I fear? I trust in You. I will do my best to remedy whatever difficulties arise today, but whatever be the result of my efforts, I will accept them as your loving will.

Amen.

The above reflection is from Chapter 61 of My Daily Bread.

Oh, that is beautiful, and yet so hard! I tend to be a chronic worrier, and all the "what-ifs" and "what-thens" fly through my head at a rapid rate.

I do have this book, however, and I've been convicted by this passage before. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Diane! I have a specific intention, too. Please pray that my talks at the homeschooling conference go well and that God might use me for His greater glory.

    Thank you again!

    love that little book.
    it is wonderful!
it is terrible that we have such a hard time "trusting" GOODNESS Itself.
but wonderful that He uses us as instruments to remind each other of that GOODNESS.
    thank you, margaret.
wishing you luck in your homeschooling talk!
He uses you for His greater glory quite often, so that shouldn't be any different!

OK, so I turned to Chapter 61 and read/meditated on the entire chapter of my BRAND NEW My Daily Bread. Due to your last reference to this wonder little book, I just received my own copy this past Friday. Thank you.

Margaret, I'm certain you will be carried through your talks at the conference by our Blessed Mother, if you ask her, because you seek to do His will.
(I pray for you now, and will pray a rosary for you on my drive to the conference.)

Wow. This is the second blog I've visited in the last 10 minutes that has spoken to me about issues that are currently stressing me out. Thanks for being a great messenger!
    God Bless.

Thanks for sharing Margaret! I needed this prayer today…it is the first day husband went back to work after we just had our 3rd baby. With many fears in my head, I will be rereading this one many times in the next few weeks:)
