Strike!

January 8, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Motherhood, My Girls, Pregnancy 8 Comments

The girls and I cuddled up in my bed last night to read a bedtime story. My ungainly figure kept getting in the way, and as I struggled and heaved and tried to find a comfortable spot, I grew frustrated and exclaimed, “I’m just a bowling ball!”

“No you’re not,” Cate reassured me.

“They’re little. You’re big.”

Looking forward to the next twenty weeks, (and I do mean that),

I hope you write all these down. My daughter once asked my why my boobs hang down to my belly button. I wanted to die, but I was 9 months pregnant and just smiled and laughed.

My 4 year old said – “mum, you are nice and cuddly with your fat tummy – better than all the bones”!! See – there is a positive side to the discomfort!

I have a picture of myself 8 months pregnant with #6 (at age 43)–ENORMOUS! I dug it out last year to show a young woman afraid she was getting too fat in her first pregnancy. We had a big laugh, and she did regain some hope since I’m no longer quite so big. 😉
