Speaking of Birthdays…

November 16, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Motherhood, Special Events 3 Comments

We’ve got back-to-back birthdays next week. Cate turns 7 on Wednesday and Felicity gets to share her day with a big fat turkey bird & lots of football.

Yes, I’m feeling slightly (but only slightly) overwhelmed with all the planning.

Consequently, I wanted to share with you the following exchange, which was so sweet and which did my tender, ever-busy mother’s heart no end of good.

Me: “What kind of birthday cake do you want this year, Cate?”

Cate (promptly): “Chocolate cake and chocolate frosting!”

Me: “Yes, okay, but I mean, what kind of design do you want?”

Cate: “Momma, don’t you worry about it. You make the chocolate cake and the chocolate frosting and I’ll take care of the rest.”

She’s super sweet, that daughter of mine.

She also has one heck of a good memory.

I didn’t know you had back to back birthday kids too. It really drains you doesn’t it? I’ll bet your cakes are delicious and if I were there I decorate it with you in exchange for a slice.

    That should have been “I’d”.

How sweet. Hope your girls have a great couple of days!

My girls are all in different months which makes things a little easier, but some days I think I would rather celebrate everything really close together.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE the name Cate 😉
