Continued Prayers for a Young Family

June 4, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Miscarriage, Prayer, Spiritual Growth 5 Comments

Last Sunday, I asked for prayers for a reader who feared that she was miscarrying.

Yesterday I received this letter.

Dear prayer warriors,

Thank you for your prayers for our darling little one. Unfortunately, it was confirmed today through blood work and ultrasound that I miscarried our child.

The heavy bleeding and cramping started on the Feast of St. Philip Neri, in the Month of Our Lady. As Philip was a name that [my husband] and I were considering, we decided to name our child Philip Mary.

In the end, we know that God’s hand is in all of this. We are indeed so grateful to God that we were able to conceive Philip when we did. We were privileged to be co-creators with our Lord, and I was privileged to carry Philip in my womb, if even for a short while. We thank God for that privilege and feel honored.

We take comfort in knowing that Philip is indeed resting in the arms of our sweet Jesus and our Lady. He will never know sin, or pain, or sorrow. God has a special mission for him, and I know he will be an intercessor for our family, whispering into the ear of the Heavenly Father. We conceived a child, and God chose to give us a saint.

As [my husband] reminded me, our lives here on Earth are but a blink of an eye…but Heaven is an eternity. He told me that I would get to hold our child sooner than later. What an incentive to reach Heaven and bypass purgatory altogether!

We are experiencing a deep sorrow at the loss of our child. Please keep us in prayer, as this is incredibly difficult.

Jesus, We Trust In You.

Please keep this family in your prayers. Their faith in time of loss is inspirational.

Ad Jesum per Mariam,

I am so so sorry. I experienced that last year and started miscarrying the night before Easter. I understand your deep grief. Please know that we are praying for you.

I will pray for them. I know how difficult and sorrowful it is. My miscarriage happened this year during the week of Roe v. Wade. Our little one up in heaven is our biggest intercessor now. It comforts me to know that she is praying for us.
