Lenten.
Today has just been Lenten.
It’s cold and it’s dreary and I can’t bake. Well, I could except we’ve given up treats for Lent and who wants to fill their counter with yummy baked goods only to give them all away?! (Um, Mags? About those spiritual goals of yours…)
So what’s a poor homebound like me to do—besides cook and clean and complain, of course?
Quilt! I’m going to quilt!
The Quilting Bee that I talked about in this post has been very good for my spirits. Here is the block that I just did for Theresa:
And here is last month’s block for Michele:
Can you see a hint of their personalities in these blocks? Or are my crooked seams too distracting? I’ll tell you, I am liking this quilting business so much that I don’t mind the crooked seams! (Or the stiff back that I get from cutting out the squares…or having to rip out the mismatched pieces…)
I have even—are you ready for this?—signed up for a beginner’s quilting course. (This from the gal who once freaked out about mending a blanket.) The only bad thing about the class is that, gulp, it takes place on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 9:00.
If you know me, you know what that means.
And that, my friend, is the true test of my dedication.
