Easter Sunday Album

April 10, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me, Special Events 17 Comments

Here are some of my favorite photos from Easter Sunday. They are not always the “best” shots in terms of lighting & composition & everyone-looking-at-the-camera-and-smiling-ness, but they do capture the spirit of the day…

DSC_0094

…and for that reason, I like ‘em.

::In the Morning::

DSC_0087

Getting this shot made getting up at 7:00 worth it.

My bookend boys and my messy kitchen.

Kinda gets you right there, don’t it?

::At the Dinner::

We stayed in town this Easter because (insert sad face icon) we’re pinching pennies and couldn’t afford the trip home.

Thank heaven for friends who invite us over…

DSC_0211

…and don’t even charge us at the door.

I call this next shot “Crazy for Corn.”

picnikfile_6ip1Nw

You could edit that down to just “Crazy.”

Here’s a shot of one of the kids’ tables:

DSC_0104

Would you believe that of all the photos that I took, the one with two people blinking was the best one?

Yes, you would believe that.

Besides, I was hungry and wanted to go eat.

DSC_0124

Do you blame me? No, you don’t.

Here’s a shot of my friend Lynn & her husband.

DSC_0215

LOVE them!

And here’s one of my main squeeze & me:

DSC_0213

Love him too! Where he goes, I will go and where he stays, I will stay. His people are my people and his God, my God.

Name that quote.

Then say a prayer that we don’t have to move.

::After the Egg Hunt::

Here’s another of my favorite moments:

DSC_0136

See that little guy on the right? He didn’t look for eggs on his own. He spent the whole time helping George get a bagful.

Sweet sweet sweet, both in the literal and figurative sense.

DSC_0153
“I’ll give you this Reeses cup in exchange for all those eggs you’re holding.
That’s a fair trade, isn’t it?”

Raising the “cuteness” bar even higher now…

Are you ready?

~ Happy Easter! ~

    I believe that's from Ruth…is that right? I should know the quote from Ruth because I have the numbers inscribed in the inside of my husband's wedding ring since I had to embrace a whole new state, family, way of life when we married. But, like you, I would follow him anywhere. God will give you the grace and the willingness if it comes to that. Pray for all of us who would miss you greatly if it did come to that. Chin up!

    Great photos. We are still praying for a job for your hubby, and would LOVE it if you moved to the NorthEast near us 🙂 There must be some great jobs in Boston!?!?!

    Should I even embarrass myself…I thought the quote was from Dances with Wolves…I know I know..dumb. But I remember her saying something like that.

    Looks like a beautiful Easter day.

    No, just kidding! Of course praying for what God has in store for you.

    I'd pray he gets a job in Tampa, but since we'll only be there for 1-3 years ourselves, that would be selfish, right? And of course that is Ruth, talking to her MIL. What a MIL. I hope to be that kind of MIL someday.

    It's from Ruth, it's inscribed, in Hebrew, on the outside of my wedding band (I love James Avery!) Prayers for you!

    After living in the same small town for 19 years with my honey, his new job took us ALL THE WAY across the country-literally from one coast to the other. While scary at first, we soon grew accustomed to our new environs, got settled in our new Church and made new friends. I am praying your hubby will get a good local position, but know, if God has other plans, it can be a good thing. Blessings, Nikki

    Prayers for God's will . . . take it from me, a Navy spouse of nearly 20 years (he's been in 24 and will go the 30, I think) . . . the moving is hard (so hard!), but you'll still have the Mr. and the kids by your side and it is remarkable how fast you'll make friends and settle in somewhere new. It's kinda fun and it's an adventure! (((hugs))) ALOHA!

    At a recent christian woman's conference the speaker shared this pearl of wisdom: To the world being happy is getting what you want. To the Christian being happy is leaving your life in God's hands. You KNOW with absolute certainly that God is in control and he has what's best in mind for all of you.

    From my experience, I find there are three ways to look at this. One is the painful separation from family and dear friends and your parish community, another is the opportunity to go out and make disciples of all the nations (though you look like you are doing just fine where you are) and the third is the blissful consolation of obedience to the Will of God. You will find out in a hurry who the real friends are, some will drop you like yesterdays news paper and say things like" Are you still here?" when you come back for a visit. Some will call you on that day you are most low and say "I was just thinking about you, how are you doing? When will you be back in town?" Oh, and don't hold your breath waiting for all those relatives who promised to visit. Maybe someday…
    But God, he is ALWAYS faithful. He carves out work for you to do (we are all missionaries!) and graces that are remarkable and awe inspiring and re-molds you into the woman of His Heart he intended you to be all along! You may get to stay but it may be even better if you to go!
    (In the old days Fr.D used to say things like this to me, he was right, and let me tell you, surrender is so sweet.) That is what WE are praying for. God Bless
