Snowy November Saturday

November 13, 2010 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Family Fun, Minnesohta, Minnesota Me 21 Comments

It’s baaaaaaack!

First Snow II

Overheard: “I’ve waited all spring for this!”

First Snow V

Overlooked: The snowballs lobbed at little sisters.

First Snow VI

(Not really. Eventually I told him to stop.)

(Which was No Fun in his opinion.)

First Snow III

On the inside looking out…

First Snow I

On the outside looking in…

(My stockinged feet were so so cold.)

First Snow IV

And on the inside staying dry.

“What’s all the hubbub?” Greta the Guinea Pig asks.

Felicity summarized it for her thus: “November means snow. Snow means winter. Winter means Christmas!”

And so it begins for us Minnesotans.

We had our first snow on September 17! Granted, it didn't stay, and we had a beautiful October.

We had our third snow of the season a couple of days ago and I snapped some pretty pics. Maybe I'll post them today in honor of my home state's first snow of the season.

LOL! The "target" photo made me laugh because the same thing is going on in my backyard at the moment! We're in Plymouth, MN, and my youngest son's birthday is in January. He woke up this morning, looked outside and said, "Yay! It's my birthday!" LOL

I wasn't ready for this yet. It's only our second Minnesota winter, and we hadn't even raked up our leaves (oops!), but it *is* beautiful!

My children are doing the exact same thing right now ~ loving the outdoor fun! I couldn't believe what I saw when I woke up this morning. It was so mild last weekend, and now it is, well, so wintery. Makes me want to play Christmas music, but I will withhold for a few more weeks 😉

Happy weekend with your husband home!!

So funny the contrast. Right now all my kids are outside barefoot playing in the sandbox. Though there was frost on the ground yesterday morning, today we're having Indian summer. (Or do I mean St martin's summer?) 62 degrees and clear skies.

Amazing! Doesn't even look like the same place from the four-wheeler pics. It does look like fun! 🙂

And I was thrilled that the high temps today are going to be mid 60's…

Desperately wanting to move further north (as in not south Texas), but waiting, waiting, waiting, God's timing, not mine! =0)

Kelli, I'll trade you. I'm in Massachusetts and desperately wanting to move to Central Texas. (I'm originally from Austin.) Like you, trying to be patient with God's timing.

I'm enjoying looking at your beautiful photos vs. seeing that out my own window. We've had snow off and on all day, but it's just not accumulating. Just really wet out there. I'm just not ready for the white stuff to stay yet!

Wow, I can't believe you can have sun and green grass one week then a winter wonderland the next! How does the snow affect your garden when it comes? I thought it would kill the lawn for the following spring. And what happens if you leave something out on the lawn then it snows and you can't find it until next thaw? I'm sorry, we don't get snow here so these are questions that always puzzle me! Lol!

    Cheers- Joolz

thanks for sharing, i'm sure that is headed towards Michigan ick but I know my daughter will enjoy it. My cousin lives in Minnesota and was telling me about her awful drive to work today. It is beautiful though.

Beautiful… but I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not in it! I will just enjoy it in pictures.

Highs in the upper 70's this weekend here in GA. Your snow looks like lots of fun, but I think I'll just go sit on my porch swing in my barefeet and read a book this afternoon. If you need a break, just come on down.

Oh, I can't wait. NOT! Can't it just stay Autumn for six months?

PS The baby needs pants and socks and slippers and maybe a sweater — he's making me cold!

I like Felicity's logic and I love winter! Winter has a beauty all its own. We don't have snow, yet; so I'm still waiting.
