The photo is blurry because the photographer was crying.
And that’s what an emotional sap I’ve been.
Where are you going, my little one, little one?
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you’re two
Turn around and you’re four
Turn around and you’re a young [boy]
Going out the door.Nanci Griffith (“Turn Around”)
How come no one told me that this motherhood thing would be so hard?
All for the greater glory of God,
*He placed 48 out of 98. Any cross-country people out there? That’s not so bad, eh?

That's excellent!

Hard?
Ohhhhh you haven't hit the tough spots yet…when someone breaks his heart, when he is far from home and needs a hug, when he hits a bump you can't make better.
Truly excellent the photo and the race.

But what Anonymous didn't tell you, is that THESE hard times are preparing you for the REALLY hard times that she listed.
Yes, motherhood is difficult, but oh so worth it… then someday, when you get to add another 'daughter' to the family, and hold your firstborn's child…….. fabulous.
Offer these current sufferings up, Margaret, and enjoy each day God gives us. Each day truly is a blessing-difficult or not!
P.S. I teared up when I saw your young man in this photo this morning… what a milestone. Thank you for sharing!

Oh, honey. And it's only just begun. Enjoy the journey. At least the good parts.

Are you driving in the carpool? When my children were little and I had babies, I always offered to do the afternoon pick up, rather than the morning drop off. Also, I keep the kids' backpacks in the foyer by the front door, lunch is made in the am, and all papers are immediately looked at after school. Remember that this is a new routine for you and it will get easier over time. It always does!

You need to read the book 'Let Me Hold You Longer' by Karen Kingsbury if you haven't already! Oh, and make sure you have kleenex handy. I own the book and have read it multiple times and I still get a little misty eyed when I read it.
Sarah says
Stop it Margaret! You're making me nervous for the inevitable years ahead! Yikes. My heart is breaking just knowing my daughter will be 7 in two weeks!
Excuse me, I need to go grab a Kleenex now….*sniff*

Oh, that first line made me want to give you a hug.
Some things get easier and some things get harder ….
His finish sound great to me! 🙂

48th out of 98th is great! My son (same age) had his first cross country race last Monday. It is certainly interesting to spectate at those races!
I too am having a hard time with my kids growing up so fast. One of my favorite quotes (out of faith and family) is "..the real sacrifice of parenthood lies not in diapers, tantrums, acne and mood swings. The really hard part is saying good-bye". I am starting to understand that quote more and more. Great post (as usual) and picture!
