A Letter to my 3rd Daughter on Her First Communion Day

May 6, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, My Girls, Special Events, The Faith 1 Comment

Dearest Camille,

Today you will receive Our Lord for the first time. I am so happy for you! You have worked so hard this year to prepare your heart for Him and you should be very proud. Right now your heart is a beautiful garden and your special guest will be arriving soon—so soon!

Do you know that He is just as excited as you are?

You may feel nervous and that’s okay. You may feel shy, and that’s okay too. The thing to remember is that Jesus is gentle and kind and patient and loving. He understands everything that you are feeling today and always. He loves you so much! He loves you even more than Mommy and Daddy do, which is hard to understand but it is true.

Jesus is and will always be there for you.

Even when you move away, which will happen someday when you grow up, you will always have Jesus there with you.

Isn’t it exciting to think that after today, you may receive Jesus in the Eucharist every time you go to Mass?! And if you ever have sins that are heavy on your heart, then rush to Jesus in the confessional first because we want our souls to be as beautiful and pure as possible.

We want to keep planting those beautiful flowers.

Don’t forget to pray for our special intentions today—for Daddy’s job, for Grandpa’s surgery, and for the new baby in Mommy’s tummy! Also, don’t forget that you can always ask your guardian angel to help you to remember what to pray for, and you can ask your special patron saints, too—the big, strong Camillus de Lellis and the holy priest Dominic. (Our Lady gave him the rosary, remember? That’s pretty special!)

And you, my darling girl, are special too—you are my sweet and spunky Camille. I am so proud of you! I am so happy for you! I love you, my daughter, with all my heart.

Yours in Jesus & Mary,

Mommy
