What are the odds that the tooth fairy will remember, at the 11th hour (which in this case is actually 7:30 a.m.), to grab her daughter’s client’s baby tooth, leave the money and run fly?
The answer is: slim. But she did it!
What are the odds that the tooth fairy will, in her hasty race against the clock, misplace the teensy tiny baby tooth and spent a good portion of the day trying to find it before its previous owner does?
Very high. She is a sidetracked, stay-at-home fairy. Enough said.
What are the odds that the tooth fairy will find the teensy tiny baby tooth as she is sweeping the kitchen forest floor after supper?
The answer is: very, very slim. This is one determined little sprite, however. She pilfers through a pile of debris; she inspects every crumb; she gets down on her hands and knees to search under the table tree stumps. Et puis, voilà! (This is a French fairy.) She finds the teensy tiny baby tooth! and spirits it away for safe keeping.
(This tooth fairy is extremely eccentric, by the way, in that she keeps a secret cache of all lost teeth. Three little pill bottles that rattle delightfully when shaken have been labeled and hidden away in her closet garden.)
And finally, one last exercise in this probability-ridden post. What are the odds that the tooth fairy will hang onto the artwork that she discovered—unexpectedly, but with great joy—under the pillow alongside the itsy bitsy, teeny tiny, they-won’t-be-this-little-for-long baby tooth?
And how long will the tooth fairy keep it? That one’s easy: Forever and a day.

WOW, that is a very hard working tooth fairy. Sounds like a very busy day.
The tooth fairy that comes to our house is a bit absent-minded. So far with each child she has forgotten to leave a bit of change with at least one tooth… oops!

The other day, when the tooth fairy was visiting our little client, she commented that IF there were aliens and IF they ever took over the world, wouldn’t they be puzzled to find small containers of little people teeth in every “tooth fairy’s” top dresser drawer.

You are one rockin’ little fairy! I confess that the tooth fairy that visits our house is not very reliable and has been known to miss her stop.
Multiple times.
Terrible…I know!

Wow, the Tooth Fairy at your house gets really good notes! How sweet!!
And don’t you know that the tooth fairy gives those teeth back to the parents for safe keeping, because the teeth contain DNA samples? (That one has worked for ME….)
Last week Mr. Tooth Fairy thought that Mrs. Tooth Fairy forgot, so a certain girl in my house wound up getting paid extra for her tooth–eeek!! But I think she’s “on to” the whole thing anyway.

That is one sweet note!

Margaret –
Can I just tell you what a joy it is to read your blog each day? I found you via Danielle Bean’s blog and you have both become daily favorites. I am a recent convert to Catholicism, and find it so encouraging to be able to “peek” into the lives of other Catholic women and see how they apply their faith in everyday life. Little do you know how often your posts have been a blessing to me. Many blessings to you and your family.

You are the best fairy. Ever. And that is the most beautiful picture. Ever. 🙂

The kids at our house now list all of the reasons why the tooth fairy might not come on the day the tooth actually falls out. We have such a wide range of reasons. (Did not get to bed right at 8:00 to she can’t fly if it is raining very hard) Our tooth fairy is not nearly as dedicated as yours is!!

At our house the tooth fairy always asked for the tooth to be life in a plastic sandwich baggie. (So much easier to find in the night!) And sometimes when we think the tooth fairy has forgotten to leave something, mom always seems to find it stuck between the mattress and boxspring (as she places it there while everyone is tearing the sheets and all off !)
