Praying for an End to Abortion

July 11, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Cultural Commentary, Minnesota Me, Prayer 11 Comments

Having invoked the powerful intercession of good St. Benedict, the kids and I drove across town this morning to meet up with friends and former Catholic Vacation Bible School classmates.

The mission: to pray for an end to abortion and in particular, for those performed at a local clinic.

We find it ironic that the sign on this clinic reads “Health Care for the Entire Family.”

The prayers and rosary were led by two of my favorite people,
Mrs. P. and Fr. D.

Frankly, my heart broke to see the people that came and went this morning: one young woman gingerly stepping into a taxi, another young man smoking a cigarette outside his car as he waited.

This young lady knelt throughout the entirety of the Rosary.
I tried to kneel throughout one of the prayers…and couldn’t do it.

The house next to the mill has been purchased by a pro-life organization here in the Cities, which allows us to assemble peacefully (and legally) and which will be home one day–thanks be to God–to the Real and healing Presence of our Lord.

Is there anything more beautiful than the mother of a priest?

On one of the walls of the future chapel are these words from the book of Proverbs: If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter (Prov. 24:10).

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn, pray for us!

How awesome for you and the kids!

I like the softer yellow instead of the brighter yellow.

I haven’t seen that place in awhile. How wonderful that the home next door has been purchased. Life Care Center has purchased the building next to the abortion mill in Highland Park as well. Life Care Center will be opening a place in Woodbury the beginning of Aug. It will be across from the PP that opened there last year. Keep up the prayers!

What a ministry that is. How many babies you are saving, many you probably don’t even realize.

We prayed at our local mill (before kids) on Saturday mornings, and I’ve hesitated to bring the girls just yet. You’ve inspired me to have the courage, Margaret. Thank you!

What a wonderful thing to do with the kids. My husbands parents used to do the same thing and he says it had a powerful affect on him and a deep love for life at an early age. God Bless You.

The Bishop of the Sioux Falls diocese is starting to pray 1X/month at our Planned Parenthood abortion mill. Our family is joining him there today.

What a wonderful thing you are doing and teaching to your children.

It saddens me that the women in your latest post are so devastated by their losses and yet these women aren’t.

What a wonderful posting! The pictures were so moving (particularly the young girl kneeling on the ground — wow!). Thank you for sharing this!

This is as beautiful as anything I’ve ever seen, and I wish I could have been there with you.

What a beautiful witness your group was. We were doing the same thing out east on Long Island, keep the faith!
