The weather is reflecting my heart today. How does it know to do that?
This tea, therefore, is just the thing. Have you seen this at the market? Double the bergamot! Mmm…
In any case, I know you probably stop by this blog for a dose of light-hearted humor. Ordinarily I’d be happy to oblige you, but today I’m thinking Roe v. Wade (of all unhappy things) and I’m thinking, for heaven’s sake, what is wrong with us?
And I’m thinking…wondering, really….what it is I should be doing to fight this battle.
*Don’t say I didn’t warn you with the title of this post! It’s the fault of this blasted Internet! I came across a website that had…heavy sigh…photos of aborted babies. I repeat: I don’t know what is wrong with us. (Read: the doctors. the nurses. the staff at those horrible PP places.)

I wish I could join you in that cup of tea, Margaret.

Oh Margaret, I know what you mean. I can hardly watch the evening (or anytime) news any more (in fact, I don’t watch, but can sometimes hear it anyway). Tonight my husband had on the news and I overheard a story about protecting dogs from people who use them for dog fights. There are already laws protecting them but the story was about doing something more. Now, I’m not in favor of dog fights at all, but all I could think (and of course I verbalized) was: “Thousands of babies dying every day and there people fighting every where for the rights of dogs!”
What is wrong with humanity?

Yes, it is so sad. Do you do the PP boycott? If not, check out fightpp.org we try to get the list once or twice/yr. We do the boycott, but I feel so helpless, when boycotting places like Disney which has the market on everything, like our kids cannot go see the new movies out, but if it saves one baby, it is worth it. Our world is in a sad state that is for sure….
scmom: I saw a show on animial planet where the police officer who was saving abused animals actually told the person who was not treating their dog right that “these animals are just like people, like humans” How ironic.

Just like your recent post, that’s what we do… pray, pray, pray. It’s much too big, much too awful, and much too much of Satan’s hand for us to battle. I keep trying to set as a goal to pray on First Saturdays as a family in front of the abortion clinic in addition to our family rosary. Your recent post reminded me that we haven’t done it all summer. Thanks Margaret.

I saw that Animal Planet episode last night! I think about this every time someone howls about how animals are mistreated. I DO think that if a person mistreats an animal, it’s oh-so-much easier for them to do the same to humans, but I want to scream, “WHAT ABOUT THE MILLIONS OF ABORTED BABIES!!!!” every time I hear an animal story. I think instead of being kind of depressed by this, we should resolve more to prayer and making small differences in the world around us. For instance, mentioning the gift of life whenever you get a chance! I like the “billboard” approach of using the positive and explaining when life begins so people won’t have any arguments left when they try to defend abortion at any stage. I gotta go, I feel kind of queesy because of my newly formed “embryo”…sheesh, for a “blob of cells” this thing is really doing a number on my stomach!

One thing we can do is pray for the mothers who have aborted their babies. A priest once told me that when they come back to Christ, back to the Church, they will be one of the greatest defenders of life in memory of their children. I honestly believe that. And always, pray, pray, pray for those doctors, nurses, etc, that they will see the true dignity of the person, and turn away from abortion. My old OB used to perform abortions (Dr. B, Tepeyac family center). After his conversion, I can’t tell you how many mothers and babies he’s saved by seeing them for free when they otherwise would have aborted. “Behold, I make all things new!” Trust in Christ!

I’m so with you Margaret.
I too, wonder how to do more to fight this atrocity in our land.
I live in the same city with one of the most notorious abortionists, Dr. George Tiller – he’s called “Tiller, the Killer”
p.s. I come to your blog for far more than the humor!
