In accordance with Jewish custom our Lady’s parents named her eight days after her birth, and were inspired to call her Mary. The feast of the Holy Name of Mary therefore follows that of her Birthday, as the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus follows Christmas.
We call Mary our Lady as we call Jesus our Lord, and when we pronounce her name we affirm her power, implore her aid and place ourselves under her protection. (Taken from Catholic Culture.org).
May we ask Our Lady’s intercession today for all our needs–as a wife, as a mother, and as a homeschooling family! Let us not get weighed down by our duties but rather, look to the reason we chose this path of education for our children. Let us pray–even if it is just one very devout Hail Mary–for the grace to keep our eyes on our eternal goal.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! All for the glory of God.
