VBS-Day Plus 1

June 27, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Family Fun, Keeping It Real, Minnesota Me, Special Events 5 Comments

Here are the photos from yesterday. I’m posting them on Wednesday rather than on Tuesday because on Tuesday I was pooped.

I still am, and we’ve got two more days to go!

Yawn.

Anyway, here is my photo documentary (the abbreviated, non-4-hour version) of my day on Tuesday.

Remember this mom from Monday? She is an awesome volunteer!
Here she is in the same chair with a different baby.
She is one of those people who “has the touch,”
and who is totally indispensable to a nursery.

Having weighed the options of mucking up her hands over at the play-doh table
as opposed to solely being a pretty princess,
Gabby decided that prettiness takes precedence always.

Note to other VBS volunteers: a bag of homemade play-doh goes a long way when you’re cooped up with a lot of kids. Yes, you’ll be scraping up a blob or two off the carpet at day’s end. It’s very worth it.

And yet another princess wandering about. This one’s looking tired!
My goodness, what time did your mother get you to bed last night?!

At one point I ventured out of the cage room that is the nursery
and this is the sight that befell me: a sea of green!
(aka our four- and five-year-olds)

Mr. F. is a wonderful teacher.
If anyone can keep a preschooler’s interest, it’s he.
Here he is “counting paws” on their way back to the classroom.

I know this little cub!

And finally…

“Okay, so we’ll just keep trying. Here’s the plan.
There are a ton of highschool volunteers
who are just suckers for a cute face!
Wait until one walks by and smile beguilingly.
Boom! We’re outta here!”

As am I! Another day (albeit a bleary-eyed one), another dollar!

Looks like a fun time Margaret. What age does your VBS go up to? AT our Church the program is only for 3yrs. thru 3rd grade. I would imagine that our nursery would look a lot like that room full of babies/toddlers. This year I volunteered for clean up duty and basically that meant that my children helped to watch over their 2 year old sister who roamed the hallways.

That last photo with the babies looking for an escape was too cute!

*BTW, I MOVED MY BLOG over to blogspot. I had too many little “issues” with VOX. I am still trying to move things over and fix things up.

Okay. I must say it. You are an incredibly brave woman to volunteer to spend five days with a roomful of littles! (Braver than I, for certain!)
