Still Pregnant After All These Years

December 8, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Give-Aways, Minnesota Me, Pregnancy 20 Comments

Even though I am not due, technically, until the 17th….

9 Mos & Counting II
Photo by Felicity, taken before the vigil Mass  last night
(allegedly the last photo with this kid on the inside)

I’ll admit I was hoping to have this baby today.

There’s still hope, right? All things are possible with God and on Mary’s feast days?

And really, all this speculation comes not from some impatient pipe dream (really!) but instead, from some very real symptoms that caused me—three nights in a row this past week—to go to bed thinking, “This is it.”

False.

False false false labor.

“Are you packed?” my poor husband would ask every night, as I muttered & moaned & tried to get comfortable. “Yeah,” I’d reply, “I am…although we’re not really at the point of grab-my-duffel-bag-and-go yet.”

Indeed.

And so I will once again retreat back into my watch-and-wait burrow—a gesture of kind consideration, I hope, whereby you may return to your almost-2nd-Sunday-of-Advent preparations.

Still.

If you wanted to play a baby lottery…

If you had an opinion in this post-partum arena…

You could leave a comment with a guess about the particulars. When do you predict this little guy will arrive? Date? Weight? Crack of dawn or rush-hour traffic? I got a good response before our George was born. It’d be a fun distraction to do it again. I’ll even get the winner something fitting! A Christmas book from Amazon, perhaps? A pack of diapers and a box of wipes?

Thanks in advance for the welcome distraction. Trust me. At this point, I really need it.

Updated to Add: Stop the presses guesses! Charlotte  has graciously offered to host this baby pool so that I can put my puffy sausage feet up and not have nothin’ more to worry about. (Woops. Double negative.) She has even offered to donate the prize, sweet girl!

Here’s the link to Charlotte’s post (check out that hilarious link to see how a baby’s really made) and here’s the widget to enter the poll.  Take your best shot with your best guess but go easy on me, please, and don’t make wait TOO long to meet this young man.

Oh, and not to worry if you’ve already ventured a guess. Charlotte will add it to the online pool.

Fun fun ouch-here-comes-another-contraction fun!

(Only kidding about the contraction part.)

(Today has been fairly quiet so far.)

I'm going to have to confess, when I saw you in my feed reader I thought, maybe she had the baby!! 🙂 I'm not good at guesses, but I sure hope he is here soon and that your delivery is smooth and as comfortable as it can be. Prayers for you and this new blessing!

He's waiting for his package from Auntie Jennifer. Monday. Although now I feel really guilty about not upgrading to priority mail which would have been today. :/ Let's see. I'm going for 7lbs 4 ounces.

Ha ha, I was thinking like Marylisa and am guessing a snowstorm baby tomorrow. What is it about storms that brings babies. Make my guess for 3:00 though for during the hour of Mercy.

Oh and by the way, you have me wishing for another baby. I'll offer a rosary for you today – God Bless.

I'm guessing December 12 (another feast day!) at 7:30 p.m., 8 lbs, 3 oz. Know you're in my prayers as you endure these last, never-ending days of waiting, waiting, waiting!

December 13….it would have been my Grandpa's 100th birthday this year. (My Great Bend Grandpa!)
8 pounds even around 11:00 pm. Enjoy this time and the little one's movement within you…such intimate moments between mother and baby that will soon be kicks outside the womb….sweet baby squirming and snuggling in the arms of his family! Blessings on these last beautiful days of pregnancy!

Oh! I'm going for a Christmas baby. Not due till the seventeenth? Do you tend to deliver early or late? (I always hope for early, but they come late every single time.)

I'm going with Our Lady of Guadalupe's feast day…the 12th, or, the Carmelite in me says the 14th. Patience in suffering, yes? LOL. Hang in there.

I remember heading out in the midst of a snowstorm to have my now-13 year old… And my friend had to have her whole block of neighbors shovel out their street so they could get to the hospital. Dramatic! I will guess, if not this snow, the next! And a white Christmas. I'm watching the barometer.
