Wordy Thursday

July 12, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Felicity, Marriage, Minnesota Me, Motherhood, Unemployment 7 Comments

(as opposed to, say,  Wordless Wednesday)

So I don’t have the time to do an all-out Daybook post, but I do have a photo thought I’d like to share with you.

Beach Day I
Two of my Favorite People!
(Although granted, I have lots.)

A photo thought and a short little story.

This morning Felicity lingered after breakfast. The rest of the kids had done their dishes and scattered—some to their bedrooms to read library books, others to the classroom to play Minecraft with Dad.

Of all my children, Felicity is the most apt to seek me out to share her heart. I love these quiet Mother-Daughter moments—I cherish them and pray for the grace to stop-what-I’m-doing, look-her-in-the-eyes and listen.

“Mom?” she said, as I stood at the counter wiping down the juicer. “You know how you have to have a job to work?”

I smiled. “Yes?”

“Well, I really want Daddy to get a job because I don’t want to move and I’d like to take piano lessons again…”

“Mm-hmm…” I responded, thinking “Me, too! Me, too.”

“But,” she continued, and raised her long-lashed eyes to give me a sweet, shy smile. “I really, really like having him here at home.”

And again I’m thinking….me, too…me, too.

Oh, how sweet. We're praying for you all every night. I think I'd be torn as well. Hugs.

Awwwwww. I'm sure it's hard for everyone in different ways. Prayers coming your way.

My husband would kill me if I put a picture of him shirtless….

We keep praying for you too. My kids and their daddy love Minecraft too. They keep trying to get me to play, I have tried and they are all way more talented then me at that game.

That's so great that they are able to enjoy this time with him, rather than just seeing him stressed about being out of work. It was never any fun in my house as a kid when my dad was out of work. Good for him for staying cheerful and fun!

Was just praying for you and your family last night. I understand and will continue. We had to drop a bit of stuff and then we really liked having Dad around too! Cheri
