He is risen! Alleluia!

April 24, 2011 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Moments of Incredible Joy 28 Comments

It’d been years since we went to the Easter vigil and I don’t think the kids realized what was in store for them. (Nine readings…several baptisms…lots & lots & lots of music…)

You’re wondering, perhaps, how they held up?

Well, here is your proof that 2 and a half hours later, we were still smiling!

(Except for George. He was dazed and confused.)

Now we are home and all I have to say is…

Happy Easter!!!

You have a lovely family. And all so nicely dressed too 🙂 It looks like Mary is blessing your son (or poking him in the ear, but I'm sure she's too good to do that!)

Sarah: Ever the solicitous mother, Mary is tucking a stray lock of my son's hair back in place.

    Happy Easter, everyone!!!

    Happy Easter, Margaret!!!!

Beautiful photo. Such a lovely family. Mine made it through two hours of vigil (they only did 5 readings) but we didn't stop for a photo op because Anthony had just woken up and was getting quite quite hungry. So it was home to pajamas, hot cross buns and bed.

I guess I shouldn't start off Easter with jealousy—but 9 readings? We only got 5! And a fire alarm. Happy Easter! Everyone looks wonderful!

Happy Easter! I am a fairly new blogger but I think I just realized from the photo that we go to the same church! Fr. Dufner is wonderful! Great picture!

For the first time in my 8 years in the Catholic Church I sadly did not attend the vigil. I was in bed before our 3 hour service (including 20 baptisms and 50 confirmations) was over.

I did make it to the Holy Thursday and Good Friday services though, and hope to attend the entire Triduum next year.

    Happy Easter!!

I just finished my blog post about the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday from a church musician's experience. It's interesting to read your perspective and those of your followers about the Easter Vigil.

My husband and I got to go to Easter Vigil by ourselves this year (which was like the best Easter gift EVER) but your photo gives me great hope that we will all be able to go as a family in years ahead. I loved seeing the families with small children in the pews as well and was impressed at how well most of them held up – there is so much excitement at the Vigil if they can manage to stay awake!

Happy Easter, Margaret! Your family photo is just beautiful! I love the girls' matching dresses.

We didn't even think about taking ours to the Easter Vigil. We didn't even take all of them to Holy Thursday and Good Friday. On Holy Thursday my husband took the 3 oldest and on Good Friday I took them. The 3 and 1 year olds stayed home. 🙂 Then we all went on Easter Sunday, which was tough because we had to get there 30 minutes early to get a seat and Anthony has entered the phase of being really, really difficult at Mass. It was still glorious!

    Glad you are back!
