Big Brother’s Watching You

August 19, 2010 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Family Fun, Hearth & Home, Marriage, Minnesota Me 11 Comments

Now, normally that’s a bad thing, right?

Not so in the case of Joe and his little brother, George.

“Joe, keep an eye on the baby, will you?”

“Sure, Mom.”

Hey, thanks.

Whatever will I do when that kid goes back to school in a week? He doesn’t really need an education, does he?

DSC_0280

Don’t answer that.

These photos, by the way, are brought to you courtesy of Minnesota Dad. Thank you, Sweetie! Here’s how it happened

A couple of weeks ago, John decided to finish installing our hard wood floors. Remember this room?

It don’t look like that no more!

“Would you like me to take the kids to my mom & dad’s for the weekend?” I asked. “So that we’d be out of the way?”

He said we could, if we wanted to, but that he would miss us and would rather that we didn’t leave. And then he proposed that we get a hotel room in town. You know, to hang out & swim & still be close to him.

I felt my heart melt away within me.

I tell you, that man’s a total sweetie! And handy, too? What a delicious combination.

So yes. We spent the night at a local hotel.

Check!

The hotel clerk, God bless him, didn’t say a word as we trooped past. (Of course, I was careful not to meet his eye.)

One adult, six kids (including an Angela) and two double beds to share among us.

“Um, could we have a cot sent up, please?”

“Sure.” No questions asked. He just said sure.

If I didn’t know better, I’d have sworn he “got” me.

What a nice feeling, that.

Either that or he took one look and realized…

“It’s okay. She’s got her Joe.”

All for the greater glory of God,

Aw. That was a sweet post. And from it, I don't know who is sweeter, your husband or Jem.

    Margaret,

I LOVE the photos and stories you share about George and Joe. I love how much they love each other! This post in particular gives me such hope, as right now we have a just-turned-four-year-old and a second child only a month older than George. It's so difficult to keep them out of trouble, especially the younger one. My husband in particular is getting frustrated by how we CONSTANTLY have to keep her out of trouble. We hope to have many more children, so it's encouraging to know that not only does this time pass quickly (in the big picture), having older children to help will be a huge blessing. Thanks for the encouragement!

    Blessings to you all,
    KC

    awwww….so sweet!

I don't know what I will do without my son either. He leaves tomorrow for his sophomore year in college. He is such a huge help and (mostly ;)) a pleasure to have around.
