Smile for the Camera! (Or not.)

October 15, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Family Fun, Minnesota Me, Special Events 13 Comments

In order to spend Angela’s hard-earned birthday money and because it’s what she really, really wanted to do, my husband and I agreed to take the family to Chuck E. Cheese Pizza.

Have you ever been to a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant? It’s where a kid can be a kid and where a big person does penance. It’s Dante’s 7th Circle of Hell, only louder.

And more expensive.

One of the highlights of the evening was getting one’s portrait artistically “sketched” by a machine. One by one, the girls sat down and watched for the flashing signal.

Smile for the camera!

Smile! I
Okay.

Smile for the camera!

Smile! II
Okay.

Smile for the camera!

Smile! III
No! No! No!

(You can’t see me in this sketch of Angela, but I’m sitting there to the side of her trying to keep the kid from bolting.)

Okay.

Let’s try taking one together, then.

Smile for the camera! (Please? Pretty please? I’ll let you ride the carousel…)

Smile! IV
Fine.

How do you like my “Somewhere over the Rainbow” face? Aren’t I idealistic?

You kind of have to be, you know.

At that place.

All for the greater glory of God, (and that includes cheesy restaurants),

We have a trip there planned in our future. In about 2 weeks our son is having surgery on both of his feet. This also means both feet will be in a cast for about 4-6 weeks.

We have told our soon as soon as the cast come off, we will take him to Chuckie Cheese!!

It has been a long time since I've visited that circle of Hades, as mine are 15, 13, and 11. But, with age come other circles, see.

Enjoy the tame circle of Chuckee's.

This post really made my day. You are so cute and funny, I can hardly stand it.

My dad feels the same way about Chuck E. Cheese. In fact, We call it The SEventh Circle of Hell at our house and we all know what that means. Consequently, I think we only went there like twice as children. 🙂

Did you do something for which you needed to do some serious penance? Because that's what that place is for me!LOL!

I don't care so much if I have to go there as long as I don't have to eat that horrendous pizza!

Terrific shots! I haven't been to that restaurant since I was a kid. But I loved it then. 🙂

Those photos are great! Your girls are all so cute, even if they aren't sitting still or even quite smiling.

Our State Fair starts today, so I'm guessing a lot of parents here in NC will feel the Chuck E. Cheese pain x 10 this week!

I think the sketches are kind of cute.

You forgot to mention that the Chuck has THE worst food in America.

LOL! I LOVE Chuck E. Cheese. Granted it doesn't happen often, but when we go… oh boy! The boys bounce off their walls instead of mine; we eat pizza (who cares if it's awful, I didn't make it); we shoot basketballs and footballs; go around a little merry go round… five thousand times. And the best part: they fall dead asleep when we come home. What's not to love!?!? Cute pictures Margaret. 🙂

My brother calls Chuck E. Cheese a kids' Vegas. i laughed so hard when he said that. I'm glad we don't live within three hours of one.
