It is inevitable that the longer I have this blog, the more I will retell stories. Like an old woman in a rocker with her dentures slipping and her shawl pulled ever close about her bony shoulders, I will recall the days of my youth with repetitive fondness.
If you love me, you will smile and nod and listen patiently.
If you don’t, well, you’ll excuse yourself to the bathroom.
This is one of those times that I am going to retell a little story. Are you with me? Are you in? Here goes. I was waiting for my older kids at a church event and was chasing my three-year-old out of the sanctuary. (Proof that her naughty behavior is always done in innocence—she wanted nothing more than to approach Our Lord and say “How are You, Jesus?”)
The father of one of my friends from the homeschool co-op was there. He laughed as I made my way past with a fussy blonde bundle under one arm, and then he approached me with a purpose.
“Great,” I’m thinking. He’s going to tell me keep my kid off the altar and he’d be right to do so.
Instead, he gave me a little squeeze on the arm (my one free one) and said shyly, “You know, from time to time I sneak a peak at your blog.”
“So you’re the one!” I said.
He blushed and that was that.
My point in retelling this story is that it is painfully hard for me to accept a compliment. Usually I try to distract and deflect another’s kind words with humor or an off-color joke. (I’m kidding.) Truly, for me to just say Thank You is next to impossible.
There you have it. I started out this post with the intention of just saying thank you—whoever you are—for nominating me for a Homeschool Blog Award.
I was nominated for Funniest Blog and also Best Nitty-Gritty Homeschool Blog. I didn’t know what “nitty-gritty” meant, and fearing the worst, looked it up on their website. Here is what they said:
“Since we included a category for the Super-Homeschooler… I figured we would add one in for the homeschooler who is brutally honest and open about her mistakes and failures. These are the moms that make you feel better and let you know that it is OK that we aren’t perfect.”
Oh. Well there you have it. If you have come to this blog looking for someone who is not perfect, you have come to the right place.
Anyway.
Thank you, again, to the person who nominated me. (I’m thinking it was my friend’s father. ; )
And good luck and God’s blessings to all the nominees.

Congrats on the nominations. You deserve it. You were one of the first blogs I started visiting over a year ago, and coming here is addicting! Great job. 🙂

OK. I just voted for you in two categories (correct?). Let’s get to the nitty gritty. It says we can vote once per PERSON in our household. Does that mean I can vote SEVEN times per category for you? I need to know! 🙂 My 6 month old would TOTALLY vote for you personally, if only he could type with more precision. Love ya!

Whoo hoo! Congrats Mags!
FYI according to the rules “To make it to the voting stage, a blog must be nominated for a certain category by THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE” –so see, you are obviously loved!
A Blessed Advent to you and yours my dear!

Congrats, Margaret! You are very deserving and humble… and nitty-grittyish. 🙂 And don’t forget, very LOVED.

I was not quite awake…
I only voted once since I am neither a blogger, nor a homeschooler.
THANK YOU for writing each day, and congrats to you, Margaret!

I nominated you for the Most Beautiful Blogger award, but apparently they decided to delete that category this year. Probably because it would have been too much of a landslide.
Congratulations, Mags! (I see I’m not the only one 😉 You more than deserve every award you ever get.
Love you!

You so completely and totally deserve it! Nobody makes me laugh so hard I spit my morning coffee onto my keyboard with the regularity you do!
Umm…that was supposed to be a compliment.
And..you owe me a keyboard.

You deserve it, Margaret! We all need someone to be honest about what really goes on behind the screen!
