We still have half a cake left!
I don’t know. I’m not too sure about this ooey gooey butter cake business. There were several versions online and the recipe I chose turned out…well…a little bit blech on the bottom. It was crumbly and rather dry, and in my opinion a good cake should not be dry.
It was totally fun to share my surprise with John and the kids, and just as much fun (and humbling) to share my surprise with you. It’s very different, you know, sharing the news of this pregnancy with a receptive audience such as yourself than it is, say, telling certain family members who do not get it. I love them dearly but they do not get it, and they’re baffled as to why we even keep on trying.
Thank you for understanding.
With love & blessings & a ton of gratitude,

I'm mostly a lurker to your blog, but I really enjoy it. I feel like I know you & your wonderful family. My 7 yr. old son overheard me telling my DH about your wonderful news & birthday & he said to wish you a happy birthday. So Happy Birthday from all of us!
Congratulations on your newest blessing, also. You're in my prayers!

Margaret, I just noticed that you added the “follow this blog” feature to your blog! How fun! 🙂 I’ve added myself to your growing list…
hugs to you from Oregon,
~Jenny
PS I’m with you on the cake – it should definitely not be dry! (At least not if it’s going to call itself a cake…) 🙂

I know what you mean about the sharing, though in a different way. My people don’t understand why I kept going after two, or three if they’re feeling charitable. 🙂
Love and prayers, always!

Oh. And I tried to get there in time for cake, but I got stuck in traffic, and by the time I got there, it was really late, and your lights were all out, and I didn’t want to ring the doorbell and get the dog barking and wake up all the kids. So I just turned around and came home. 🙂

Hey Margaret,
sigh…don’t let those folks bug you or steal your joy. Anytime the Lord allows a new life into our bodies it is an occasion for joy. What a blessing!

Hi Margaret:
Happy Birthday. I don’t know how many comments you are used to getting from random strangers, but I’ve been reading your blog for a while and your faith and optimism always seems to lift me up so I have to wish you well and congratulations! I am excited for you and hope all goes well.
Anna.

You look so happy! We are finishing our cake (of the carrot variety) tonight. It was moist and scrumptious, as always (see below).
“Betty Crocker in a box. Why mess with perfection?” – Slogan, my own. 🙂

Happy Birthday and Congratulations!!! You are added to my prayer list!
I understand about the not telling family. Sometimes it’s very disheartening to share something you feel is so incredibly wonderful knowing that the response you get will be less than thrilled. So disheartening in fact that we have gotten into the habit of not sharing our wonderful news with anyone not willing to at least fake utter and complete joy.
I’m not faking, I’m so happy for you and your family!!! You’re in our prayers!

People don’t remember that having a baby isn’t all about us.. it’s about the baby.. and God’s plan for that baby. And every baby is a tiny but perfect jewel in God’s heavenly kingdom, and only magnifies to His beauty and goodness. He will bless you and your husband for being open to making heaven a little lovelier!
And there is always another cake to be enjoyed… love you, Margaret! 🙂

Another long-time reader coming out of lurkdom to say congrats! I’ve been praying for you and will continue to do so. And a Happy Birthday too!

The phrasing of your last sentence struck me — that your family doesn’t understand why you “keep trying.” What’s the alternative? “Giving up?” What kind of option is that?
Congratulations, happy birthday, and prayers.

First of all, Happy Birthday and many, many blessings to you and your family.
It may not make it easier, but try to imagine that (at least for a FEW family members) they might not get it because they are worried about you and your health given the difficulties you’ve faced. I’ve had to realize that in others too.
