Four Things I Would Do Differently…

February 28, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Joe, Minnesota Me, Motherhood, My Girls 9 Comments

…If I Were the Mom

by Cate (age 7)

If I were the mom I would let my children slip and slide when the bathtub drained. I would let them play outside as long as they wanted (but not when it got darck.) I would let them make snak’s when they wanted it. I would let them help make supper. Do you think I would be a good mom?

(And I would let them have 4 things that they wanted in their Ester basket.)

Joe came over to the table where I was working on this writing exercise with Cate. He read it silently and then remarked, “You know, you can give me an Easter basket this year if you want—for, like, the photos and stuff—but what I really want for Easter is Legos.”

Do they come in both milk chocolate and dark, I’m wondering?

And in my defense, I do do the above things with Cate! Maybe not all on the same day…but still.

Yours truly, in both the good mothering moments and the even better really indulgent ones,

    Cate,
I think you would make a great mom! Look at how good your own mom is… so you know it’s in you!

My daughter tells me everyday that she wants to be a mom when she grows up. Way to go girl. So proud of her!

I love the comment about Legos. It sounds like something my 10 year old son would say… I have to admit that I love sitting in the middle of the living room floor with piles of Legos too!

Love that exercise, too! Those were all reasonable demands, I think!
And I love your son’s generosity in allowing the photo ops! ( I have something for you over at my place, btw! &:o)
