Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad!

January 29, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me, Special Events 17 Comments

If you have an extra moment today, will you please say a prayer for my parents? They have been married 60 sweet years today!

They are 6 kids, 21 grandkids, and 14 great-grandkids richer since the day they met.

And we are all the more richer for having been sent to them.

I have written about my dear mom and dad before.

They are sweet and cute and loving and kind; they just give and give and give.

To be honest, though, a handful of flattering adjectives alone is not enough to do these two justice. You have to meet them in person and once you have…

Oh well then, my friend, you’d understand.

Please indulge the posting of some photos taken at their anniversary party this past weekend. They were taken by my niece Aimee, to whom I say, “You’re hired!”

This is my sister Mary, the fair hostess (not to be confused with this Fair hostess) of this fun event.

That’s Mary’s husband Kelly in the middle. I wonder if he’ll forgive me for posting this photo? I call it “Revelry.”

Three cute cousins on the stairs.

Aimee’s two boys, Devin and Riley. Aren’t they just…sweet?

My mother and her youngest chick.

My mother and her oldest (and therefore, wisest) chick.

I love you, Mom & Dad! Happy 60th!

    Dearest Margaret,

I will indeed say a prayer (perhaps my whole rosary) for your lovely parents. They are, indeed, to special for words and I feel fortunate to have met them! They are SO lovely. It’s no wonder you are, too.

    Love,
    Cathie

Margaret, they are so lovely! I want to be them when we are older! Your parents are the perfect example of the best of their generation. (And it is a pretty amazing generation.)

I am coming in late here but I will remember your parents in prayer tonight. Wow, sixty years. How amazingly sweet. I want the same thing… to grow old and be more in love with my sweetie, 60 years into our marriage than when we started.

Please pass along my congratulations to them.

    Hugs for you also.
