Thankful Thursday

November 16, 2006 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me, Motherhood 4 Comments

We are one short week shy of the great feast of Thanksgiving! Please stop by Diane’s beautiful online journal The Journey of a Mother’s Heart to share in the gratitude of so many lovely moms!

This mom will have to wait until tomorrow to be thankful [;)] as I am still working on my post! It will be a remniscent trip back to the bonny hills of Scotland in honor of my adopted patron Queen Margaret, whose feast we celebrate today and whom I love.

Have a blessed day, everyone! Don’t forget to count your blessings–each. and. every. one.

    Margaret,
Thank you for sharing this. I did not know this about Queen Margaret. I suppose she would be my adopted patron too!

What does adopted patron mean? I have heard of patron saints and name saints, but not adopted patrons. Just curious.

cmw: my parents named me after St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (the French nun who received the apparitions of the Sacred Heart). I love her dearly but since I have more in common with Margaret of Scotland (who was a wife and mother of 8) and since, of course, she shares my name, I have also “adopted” her as my special patron.

Well, now that makes perfect sense! Whenever I think of St. Margaret I think “of Scotland” instead of “Mary Alocoque” even though that is who my mom is named for also. BTW, I love the idea of adopting saints! My kids know who all of their name saints are and their birthday saints, but they also each have some special saints that they are fond of. I think I will tell them that they are their adopted saints.
