(and that is not a reference to my weight…)
We made a cake for the feast of Saint George yesterday!
A dragon cake, as per Charlotte’s tutorial.
(We all hacked off a body part. We slayed the dragon and served him up on china.)
(I got the butt.)
(I didn’t mind.)
Now, if you’re like me when I used to read posts like this, you’re beginning to feel a bit undie-bunchy because you didn’t make a cake for St. George’s Day.
Can I just say? Stop it right now. You can make a cake like this if you really want to; Charlotte makes it very easy. Also, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t make it yesterday. You can celebrate these fun feasts any time you want!
Saint George won’t care if it’s not on his feast day and I assure you…
Neither will your children.
What they will care about is the fun they had–the fun of slaying a googly eyed dragon…
And of dressing up like Princess Una.
(Princess Una’s a character in St. George and the Dragon. I like this story very much, and I LOVE the illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman.)
We read the story before I served the cake, and then we stuck our knives into the various body parts. “Death to the dragons in our lives!” I intoned.
Naughty little dragons on the table don’t count.

Yay for slaying your dragons! Yay for cute little dragon babies! I'm so stinkin' proud of you. Hugs to everyone (but especially that handsome knight with the sword at the ready)!
