The It’s Almost Thanksgiving!/Movie Review Edition
First, an exchange.
“Hello, Ma’am!” George said, coming into the room.
“Hi, Hon.” (That was me, standing at the counter.)
“I’m not a Hun,” he replied matter-of-factly. “I’m a wizard.”
Oh and that leftover Elphaba hat he’s wearing? His sister glued it to his head.
Also? Our hot water heater’s broken.
This is an unexpected inconvenience, certainly, but then I pretend I’m Mother Teresa and suddenly, hey, my perspective’s saintly!
Key word: pretend.
We fake it ’til we make it, right?
Okay, so you’re busy. Onto the reviews! They’re going to be quick & easy ’cause you got pies to bake. Me, too! I’m hosting! Eek! Gotta clean!
But this Friday…or Saturday…you might find me at the movies. Why? Because Angela and I went to Frozen last night and it was fabulous.
Now I want to take Felicity.
I went into the show not knowing a thing about the movie, save for the appearance of an annoying little snowman. Well, guess what? He’s not that annoying, and Idina Menzel (Elphaba! From Wicked! I know! I know!!) does the voice of the snow queen Elsa.
I was just really surprised and pleased by the beauty & humor in this movie. It’s not your standard “busty but brave” Disney Princess picture, you know? It’s a sweet fairy tale with a couple fun twists–perfect for treating the kids this weekend.
Note: There is a fairly scary snow monster that makes an appearance. If you have sensitive children, be warned.
Also, I HIGHLY recommend seeing the 3D version. There’s a wonderful little Mickey Mouse movie at the beginning that I MISSED because I was getting popcorn. “I’m so sorry, Mom!” Angela said, and she was so earnest that I forgave her.
My 2nd recommendation is not for kids at all but rather, teens & grown-ups. It’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and I give it a hearty thumb’s-up, as do my sons.
If you’ve read the books, and we’ve read all three, you won’t be disappointed (I don’t think). In fact, the movie is even better than the plot-driven (but not exactly literary) novel. Plus? Jennifer Lawrence? That young lady is a class act, in my opinion. I did not mind paying to see one of her movies.
And that’s that! End of story my quick-picks/almost Thanksgiving!/reviews.
Are you hosting? Either way, have a blessed & beautiful day.♥

Good to know, about "Frozen". The kids saw some stuff about it when they were in Disney.
Happy Thanksgiving! We're hosting my sister and fam. Almost finished with day-before prep.
