The Christmas Concert Edition
We went to a Christmas concert at my son’s school last night.
The music was very pretty, but since my husband has yet to show me how to upload the video from his camera, you’ll just have to take my word for that. (Never mind, he showed me how.)
Did you spot my son in the above picture?
Here. I’ll provide a little help:
Christmas concerts make me happy.
My son makes me happy.
Christmas concerts with my son make me UBER-happy.
On the way to the concert, (I had to drop Joe off an hour early), we were stopped at a light and I glanced over. He was looking out the window at the black, frozen night–not saying a word, hands clasped quietly in his lap. At that moment, his life flashed before my eyes. I saw the little boy he used be; I saw the man he was becoming.
At that moment, my heart broke just a bit…just a teensy, tiny bit.
(I think you moms know what I mean.)
And I thought, “Thank you, Lord, for my son.”
Thank you for this grand adventure called parenting.
Please give me the grace to do it well.

As a choir teacher, it warms my heart to see all those boys up on stage together – who cares what they sound like, they're making a joyful noise together and that's what matters!

I, too, love those concerts. The sound of young male voices warms this mother's heart.

Amen! My girlfriend's husband had a massive heart attack this morning. We see them every Sunday in church and he is young, healthy, etc. He is alive by the grace of God tonight. As wives and mothers we must love our families because life is short and they are so special.

Those boys all look so handsome all dressed up. I bet it was beautiful hearing those voices.
Look how your son is growing up! A true reminder to treasure the moment.
As always, you look darling Margaret! How do you do it? š
Happy Weekend!

I know this post is from last week, but I am totally in tears and had to let someone know! Your lines about your son growing up really hit home. My oldest 2 are 12 and 13 and those glimpses of their boyness are starting to fade. Ahh so bitterweet.
