Part I
We are freshly home from two days of Christmas travel (arriving home LATE last night and doing little else than brush my teeth and read a paragraph of my current read before passing out—not literally—until this morning) and I have a fair share to do to feel “caught up”.
(Can someone tell me, please, exactly what that feels like?)
And so, in addition to these wonderful post-family feelings that I have in my heart, I also have a sense of “Where—oh, where—to even BEGIN?” And the answer to that is:
With blogging, of course.
Here is some free holiday advice should you find that you need it. The question is: What does one do with a Bûche de Noël snafu?
(Note to self: Let your yule log cool completely before adding the filling and attempting to frost.)
(And do not try to assemble it with exactly one hour to spare before leaving for Mass.)
Anyway, yes, what does one do with a Bûche de Noël snafu?
Why, she makes a Christmas trifle, of course!
And she smiles when she serves it, saying, “I meant to do that.”
(My girls, of course, know better.)
How is your Christmas going? ☺

I ruined the extraction of FOUR sour cream pound cakes, intending to be wrapped as gifts . . . chopped them up, poured custard, made trifle, too!!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Love, A

Oh, that is so clever! I probably would have dumped it, and prayed that a bakery was open somewhere between church and home. Looks terrific 🙂

It's so pretty, and the log looks like a real log in winter

I'm impressed that you could turn it into a triffle! I never would have thought of that!!
I would have jokingly served it as my 'deflated Yule log' and hoped that the flavor was good and that it would be a fun memory…who knows even a future tradition…that I would have to re-create year after year…:>D

Love it!! I really wanted to make one of these this year as my paternal grandparents always had one as a Christmas tradition. And like all the years previous, I just ran out of time. I'll try again next year. If I have a snafu, I'll know what to do!
