Christ the King, Christ our King

In honor of today’s great feast…

I cry every time I see this.

Today is one of those feasts where I feel—acutely—my shortcomings as a Christian. I want to be bolder in proclaiming Our Lord’s kingship; I want to submit; I want to know. What does it mean that He’s our king? And how should that affect us?

Today I am trying yet again to give Him my heart, my mind, my life. I bow before His gentle scepter and receive the anointing He has reserved just for me.

Christ is king. King of Kings…and Lord of Lords.

And he shall reign forever and ever.

Happy feast, dear friend. He is our King. We are his people. Rejoice with Him.

"Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured as a libation upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me."
    Phil 2"9-18

Jamie Jo, what is Barbara's Crown Cake??? !!!

Trying to make the liturgical year be real and rythmic for the children and ourselves and food just works.

Thank you again, Margaret, for writing only the way you do!

This may be the cake that Jamie's talking about, Allison: http://blessusolord.blogspot.com/2010/01/epiphany-cake.html

Any cake can be a king cake for today's feast. Just print out a crown and put it on top! Over here, we're decorating a bundt cake with lots of gumdrops and candied orange slices. 🙂

Yes, Mags, that's the cake….but I'm afraid our "crown cakes" might have to be store bought cupcakes again..with M&M's on top!! Took a nap instead of baking!

The Scripture's more important, Christine. 😉

Happy Feast Day! Our parish actually follows the old calendar, we celebrated this Feast a few weeks ago. Christus Regnat!

I always think of the Feast of Christ the King as sort of a big party where I can say that I know, in some small way, the great and powerful Guest of Honor. 🙂 It's probably my favorite day on the whole calendar!

THAT was amazing! Sadly our entire family missed the Mass celebration of Christ the King. We have been quarantined at home because three of our six children have whooping cough! We did have a tiny family celebration – with only a few coughing fits mixed in.
    Thank you for sharing!
