Mom Time

August 13, 2011 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Friends of the Heart, Gratitude, Minnesota Me 12 Comments

Have you taken some lately?

Why I Blog

Sometimes, near the end of confession with my awesome pastor, he will ask if I’ve been able to get out with my friends. “This is so important, you know,” he will tell me. “Women have different social needs than men. You need to get out and get together with the girls!”

Well then. Tomorrow at confession I can tell him I did.

“How long do you think you’ll be gone?” my husband asked when he got home from work last night. Taking the car keys from his outstretched hand, I replied, “Oh, I don’t know. About an hour and a half?”

Three hours later, I returned….and it was good, very good.

I did not even mind sitting quietly when the conversation turned to knitting.

Thank you, Grace, and thank you, Sarah, for taking the time to get together! You knew I would post about it when I pulled out the camera…but the way I see it, shameless blogging opportunity notwithstanding, if we can inspire more moms to get out and get together…

Then it will have been worth it.

I was out last night too! Some of the other moms at our school and I try to do this every few weeks. I laughed so much last night, and I needed it! šŸ™‚

Thanks again for getting together, Margaret.:) It was so good for me, too, just to sit and be around good moms who love their vocations. I didn't heed your advice to not stay out too late.:( I had a fun time with 3 other moms after meeting with you and Sarah. I think it was clearly 11:15 when I finally got home. Oh, well…it was worth it.:)

Great reminder! Maybe we could meet in Maple Grove sometime? Is that a middle ground?

We should get Tracy and get a blogger lunch set….or blogger night or something!!

Hey, can I unabashedly invite myself and come too?
I can't remember the last time I was out (with other good Catholic moms who enjoy their vocation)!

At a recent mother's retreat, the speaker (a very wise priest) said, "It is amazing how one conversation about nothing can relieve stress." He was reminding us Moms how much we needed contact with each other. He had a lot of great things to say, but that quote really hit me.
