(As hosted by the lovely ladies at Like Mother, Like Daughter)
The Library Edition
Few things are prettier than the library in the spring.
Okay, little girls are always prettier than the brick building that’s our library…but those flowering crab apple trees out front?
Pretty darn pretty!
You wanna go to the library, George? (I’m asking him this in the parking lot.)
Apparently he does.
See? He’s giddy at the thought of it.
Either that or he’s planning all sorts of mischief.
With that look it’s hard to tell.
(PS. Yes, I know. He needs his bangs cut.)
This is our library’s coffee shop, where my children played and drew pictures and read, and where I couldn’t have a single cup because I’d already had my two mug’s worth that day.
Isn’t that funny?!
It’s tragic.
But that’s not a category.
These are the books that Mommy got at the library—books for improvement because, well, it’s that time of year. Note the selection: five books for homeschooling and one for my marriage. Typical proportions in a busy momma’s life!
(I’ve tried to keep the title of that last one discreet.)
(While letting you know that you know what’s important.)
(You know.)
Pretty HAPPY funny real…and when it comes to happy, our marriage should be.
Love!

See, now you've given me library-envy.
This:

Is our local library. It is just as, if not more pitiful, than this picture depicts. I think this entire county library could fit inside the coffee shop at yours.
I love living in the sticks except for things like no good library 😀
Jamie Jo says
So, this is not the first time you've gotten one of those "marriage" books, I remember something about a late fee once….anyway, is the book for you or him, or do you read it together? What do you need to learn in that category. I just don't get it. Should I be more open to getting those books…and ummmm….exploring?
Maybe I should have put this in an email instead.
Pretty girls, pretty flowers.
minnesotamom says
Jamie, let's go for coffee. 🙂
Theresa says
Mags, you kill me.
Allison says
Hmmm maybe you should let us know how that book goes. I'm feeling rather bad for my husband right now. I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so that's the last thing on my mind…
Christine says
I wanna come for coffee too!
Joy says
I was thinking about that book also. I am thinking that it may just be stress from the jobs, and loss of sleep affecting the husbands these days. Thirty years ago, people could work an 8-hour day and go home, take holidays off, and they didn't have the internet, email, cell phones, Blackberries, etc keeping them constantly plugged in. Home time was fairly consistent and it was Home Time, not kinda-home-but-still-working-on-call-24/7-even-though-I-am-a-Financial-Analyst-not-a-surgeon.
A vacation is sounding good about now, isn't it? We are in need of one around here too.
Good luck, and you have a great library!
Christine says
Allison…All I can say is have sex now now NOW! When that baby comes…then you will for sure be too tired.
Feelings really cannot come into play with sex. There will always be something to do, think about, be too tired.
Sex can be that twinkle in your eye as you look at your husband. Every dude should should have eyelashes batted at them and the look from their wife that says they are hot hot HOT.
There should be sparks every day between spouses that doesnt have to lead to the bedroom.
A lot of the good stuff happens before the bedroom. Intimate looks. Little touches like back rubs and lots of kinky notes in his lunch box.
If the man thinks you are in the bedroom because you HAVE to be there…well that is no fun at all.
Even when he has his beer in hand and grilling…say stuff like "hey ..hot stuff!" "and I am not talking about the food"
Allison in AK says
Your library DOES look large and wonderful! I couldn't open K's link, but it's probably like mine : dark, dingy, small…
I always enjoy "visiting" with you, even if I don't comment!!

YOUR LIBRARY HAS A COFFEE SHOP?!?! Oh, that would be my doom, surely. I'm just green with envy.
Happy reading! 😉
Sue says
I've almost recovered from the severe attack of envy I experienced over your library.
OK, I'm alright. Whew!
I think Auntie Leila and the girls should add a "tragic" category just for you and your coffee trials. :o)
feebeeglee says
I'm reading this one: Holy Sex. It's pretty good.
Jen says
Our library had a coffee shop. Then they closed to renovate it. It was GORGEOUS! After it had been reopened for 3 weeks it closed again. And hasn't opened since. That was before Christmas. Sigh. I miss the coffee shop!
Charlotte (Waltzing Matilda) says
Ours has a coffee shop, or maybe it's more like a coffee stand, too but it's almost never open when I'm there! Maybe that's a good thing! My goodness, your girl looks so grown up in that top picture!
theresa EH says
cute kids, pretty flowers, there is always decafed coffee to drink AND I hear that when hubby clears the table, does the dishes, sweeps the floor, helps bath and put kiddos to bed that it is great foreplay 😉

What?! Your library has a coffee shop! (Minnesotans besides being tough and pesevering, must be highly civilized as well). Our library is located in a rented space in a shopping center (you can hear all the noise from the tanning salon next door through the thin walls) and is only open three days a week because CA is broke. I"m packing my bags(and parka) for MN.
Aimee says
Total library envy here in PA. Our library is 40 minutes away and it is smaller than my house. Maybe we just need a coffee shop inside? 🙂
PNG says
You've reminded me I need to get to the library…maybe I'll get a few different selections, though…maybe.;)

I love George! He always gives me a smile 🙂
Yes, it is that time of year for the homeschooling mom, isn't it? Being that I'm a planner and I don't think the homeschool conference is on our agenda this year, I already have thoughts of next year floating through my head…ahh. And now, you've inspired me to check for those books at my library!!
Um, will there be a book review or cliffnotes on the "marriage" book? Send any good and useful info. our way!! lol. Have you read the Holy Sex! one? Just wondering.
Lastly, if you are having bloggers (specifically MN bloggers) over for coffee, I'm free any time!
Have a wonderful Friday!

Email me, Sarah, and we'll pick a date! I'd love to get together.

Hi Margaret, your children look great against the lovely flower background. Happy pictures to look at! Your son's picture is probably my favorite!

Cracking me up.
And the dandelion cover up is hysterical.
But the most important part… Your library has a coffee shop? WHAT is this? I want one in my library!
