I told Jem that Dad and I thought he was nocturnal, too. “What do you mean?” Jem asked. “Well,” I responded, “You never really want to go to bed and you like to sleep in in the morning.”
“I ask to go to bed sometimes,” he countered.
I laughed. “Jem, I could say we were going out for ice cream and you’d find something to argue about.”
His response? “No, I wouldn’t!”

Hee, hee — sounds all too familiar. Is it a boy thing? My son was adamant last week that he had practiced his guitar for ten minutes, though he was only absent from my presence for three!

I have a kid like that. I have learned that she is always right.

Ha! This cracks me up! Is Jem your oldest? A choleric, by any chance? My oldest-type A- choleric is just always always ready with an argument on her lips. And sometimes she can deliver them with such sweetness! But the underlying argument is there. It makes the peace-keeper in me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!

That's hilarious!

In Jem's defense, he really couldn't answer that question with out showing guilt. If he said yes, well, then, there yo have it. But because he said no it sorta proved what you said 😛

Sounds an awful lot like my oldest. From the time she was two we called her contrary. She had (has) an argument for everything. My favorite was when I'd ask if she would like milk or water to drink and she would answer orange juice.
