Thursday afternoon found me both tired and cranky. (Scandalous, I know.) We had been going & going & going all day and still we had obligations—a baseball game for Joe and (simultaneously, at a different field) a soccer game for Cate.
Who decided we were a sporting family, anyway? I blame my husband.
So yeah, tired and cranky, that was me. (And yes, I know I should have written “That was I” but like I said, I was tired and cranky!)
I dropped Joe off and then drove a block to the nearest McDonald’s (scandalous too, I know), where I purchased my latest drug of choice: a large caramel frappé.
Seriously? These drinks are like crack for this addled soccer mom.
“What are we doing at McDonald’s?” Angela knew better than to ask for food, having been fed a double cheeseburger from Burger King not an hour earlier. (I know! I know! Stop judging me.)
“I’m worn out and cranky and needed a coffee,” I replied.
Not that they needed an explanation.
“You do sound tired,” Angela said sympathetically.
“I am. That’s why I got a coffee.”
“You know what I think?” came the chipper response. “I think you should have gotten two.”
(Next time, with her permission, I will.)
That is awesome. As a mom who has also been tired and cranky, I'm laughing WITH you. Hope today it better.
I love, love, loved Frappe's until I got the courage to look up how many calories….eek. I'll be doing nonfat caramel cappuchino now for 1/3 the calories!
I know! John and I were just saying the same thing!
I order them without the whipped cream but still. I think I need a new addiction.
Those frappe's are DELICIOUS, aren't they!!!?? Hang in there, Margaret!
Dang it. Now I have to get a Frappe when I head to the grocery store. I will have 3 cranky kids with me, so it's not optional. Right?
I get one frap from Starbucks about once in a blue moon 'cos my thunder thighs have got to stop clappin'!
This post is hilarious!
Oh my goodness. I seriously laughed out loud. That was great! Thanks for cheering me up on a day when I am starting tired and cranky!!
I think I need to borrow your kids LOL. I only get a coffee out for a major treat now and then, but unfortunately I gave up coffee. Yes, you read that right 🙂
Frappes all around!! They are my latest addiction. Until I found out their calories…but still a good treat for me when I need it!
As usual, hilarious post! Thanks for keeping it real in Blogville 🙂
Am I so lame that I just long for a glass of crisp cool Chardonnay or Pinot Grig. Coffee drinks just don't do it for me after 9 am:)
Oh those new Frappe's are terribly good aren't they!
it doesn't help that (at least here) they have giant billboards taunting you to go and buy those darn frappes everywhere you turn…
not good. for anyone. thunder thighs or not.
i sure love your girl's take on getting two. what a kindred little spirit!
ps. as for the garden…weeds count as growth, don't they?
love the Angelaisms..:)
