This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long while. Oh my goodness, why haven’t you told me about it before?

Granted, it’s not for the faint of heart. But the acting! The drama! The passion! Tim Robbins!

Okay, I’ll stop now.

(I am on a bit of a Tim Robbins kick though. Raise your hand if you agree.)

You had never seen that movie?!? Nice to know I'm not the only one who is culturally behind.

    How did opening night go?

This is the place to come if you want to feel better about being culturally behind, Ann.

Opening night went GREAT. One performance down…four to go.

Ugh, no! Sorry sweet friend ! Promise you won't think less of me, but Tim Robbins is one of those actors that drives me nuts. Watching a movie with him in it is like having someone pull out a single hair on my head every ten minutes. Not excruciatingly painful, but completely annoying! I don't know what it is. Drew Barrymore is another one although I have been able to sit through more of hers as she has gotten older (or maybe it's as I have gotten older). Do you still love me?

Of course I still love you! Let's agree to disagree, because I think his acting's phenomenal.

I love this movie! It's listed as one of my faves on my profile.:) I was actually surprised to see this post because we've been doing a study of Mozart, and I picked up the CD set of Le Nozze di Figaro from the library (it's sitting here by my desk!). I did a scan to find the opera on the web that the kids could watch (of course, with the supervision of an adult!) and kept finding a reference to Shawshank Redemption. I guess there is a scene where Andy broadcasts one of the songs from the opera over a loudspeaker. I forgot about that.:)

This was one of his best performances, I thought. The entire cast was amazing too. I mean Morgan Freedman was awesome in this…

Sadly, I rarely see movies as good now. Thus, we rarely go to the movies now.

Sorry, dear. I know we are related and all, but I can not stand Tim Robbins. And I really didn't think the movie was all that great, either.

I honestly can't believe you haven't seen it! It is one of my and my husband's favorites.

I'll agree that this is one of Tim Robbins' best acting performances.

I am learning a lot about you ladies! I also love that we can agree…and disagree, as the case may be.

By the way, I almost didn't post this, having had a fit of scruples about liking a movie with themes as dark & heavy as this one.

Margaret…this is my most favorite movie of all time! Seriously. He (Tim Robbins that is) can be a bit of a pain as far as his personality goes (and political views)…however, I do believe he is an excellent actor.

I mostly agree with Nancy. I think it's an outstanding movie, and I think Tim Robbins is a very good actor. I think this is an excellent performance. Out of character, I must admit I do find him a little annoying.

But, you know, a lot of people could say that about me as well, so… 🙂

I'll take a pass on your movie, looked it up and it seems a little too off color for me. However I love your taste in horsdeovers and its Super Bowl Sunday so I am going to get busy making your bacon wrapped jalopeno poppers recipe. Simply the greatest!

I have seen the movie, but yesterday I got the entire set of the Brady Bunch at Half Price Books. It is going to be hard to even turn that off to watch the Super Bowl. We had to peel the kids away from it this morning just to get to the early mass so that I could get back home and start painting for the day. Go Saints and hopefully my hordevours will look as good as yours. I can only hope to be the Master of that today.

I'm also shocked you have not seen this movie!! Also one of our favorites. (But I don't think I listed it as one of them on my list)

What's wrong with Tim Robbins? I'm surprised at some people's comments!

Bobby and I saw this movie on our first date on October 16, 1994. Since then, he's watched it about 42 times. I'm kind of sick of it.

We love that movie, too, Margaret. I love the overriding theme of hope.
