For Cryin’ Out Loud

October 10, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Keeping It Real, Minnesohta, Minnesota Me 25 Comments

It’s only October 10th!

No! II

On the menu for today? Grilled pork chops with a Carolina spice rub.

That’s right—I said grilled.

Mind you don’t burn your mittens.

No! I

This does not bode well for the upcoming winter.

This does not bode well at all.

All for the greater glory of God, and that includes living (and grilling) in Arctic conditions,

I'll trade you states! It was 90 degrees at the kids soccer game yesterday. One child went off to the hospital in an ambulance for getting a little too over heated!
I would LOVE some snow (I just hate hot weather)!

LOL! From your pictures it looks like your leaves have not even turned color yet–still green. Wow!

That's right, Theresa. We've been been having a wacky Autumn.

And Nancy, I can't say I much care for 90-degree weather either.

Just give me a spate of perfectly sunny, 70-degree days and I'll stop grousing!:)

It's the same here in Colorado! Yesterday there was just a slight drizzle of rain, but today there is suddenly snow outside!

We're supposed to have it tonight! I had to bundle up the boys for their soccer games this morning, and I elected not to go because it is too cold to stand out there for 2 hours with the baby.

    Oh my gosh. That's NUTS!
I'm in OH and we've had a pretty normal autumn, although last week was like Flood Central 'round here. But today it is sunny and pretty, and the leaves are gorgeous.

    We skipped soccer too Therese!

My flowers are all dead….I was so saddened when I peeked out around midnight last night!!

Usually I'm excited for that first snowfall…in December!!

We have a charcoal grill too and hubby does not like to grill in the winter at all…so he doesn't!

Many a path has been shoveled to the grill for a pork chop at my house! Hopefully it will melt by dinner time. Snuggle up darlin'.

Join the club. 🙁 On the fourth we had 15 inches and it has snowed several times since then. Right now it is only ten degrees F, and more snow is expected tonight.

I told my husband that I read The Long Winter several times when I was growing up, but I never expected to be living it. This is pretty hard on a girl who has spent my entire life until now living in CA and TX.

I agree with you 100%. My perfect weather would be a sunny 70.

Hilarious! You poor thing. When we used to live in Michigan I grilled outside all winter long (and wore short sleeves). I refused to let the weather stop me. 🙂

I'll bottle up some of the 100 + degree days we've been having here lately and send you some!! Put that together and it would make for a fairly comfortable day:)

No kidding Margaret. This stinks. I posted this morning. My kids just HAD to go out in it. Me? I'm staying inside and finishing some painting.
Winter and I are NOT friends. And when the white stuff begins in October, well, let's just say we are not on speaking terms.
Yes, we silly Minnesotans are all in this boat together 🙂

Apparently we have vog (volcanic fog from the big island) hanging over us and the tradewinds aren't blowing as much, which creates high humidity. It's only 86 but it feels hotter!

But, I do feel for you. My BIL and SIL are probably very excited if an early show means deep winter – they ice fish (they live in MN and have a cabin an hour away from Itasca).

Just one more reason I do not live in Minnesota (though I do think it's a lovely place to visit;-)!

TOO SOON for snow. I am loving the fall not at all missing summer and not ready for winter thank you very much!

I love it! Our kids were out playing in the tiny bit of snow this morning! We love the snow as long as there is enough to do something in it (i.e. snowmobile!!! we need more!!!!!)

But, now we are finally checking into our winter coat/snowsuit/boots situation!

that's amazing! I still have the windows open all day and night long here in central NJ. I've been longing to put on the woodstove though so I'm a bit jealous. 🙂

Oh dear!!! I am sticking my fingers in my ears and singing loudly so that I can NOT hear you talking about snow!! (so what if I'm reading about it:) I am fearful that we in New Hampshire are in for an early winter also. We had a very short, late summer and an early, cold fall. Foliage peaked early….oh but, please, no snow yet!!
Hope it doesn't stick around, Margaret! Grill away!

Wow! It's unusually cool here as well and very wet. Quite a switch from our dry, dry summer.
