The Triumph of the Cross

September 14, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Current Affairs, Friends of the Heart, Gratitude, Minnesota Me 8 Comments

Subtitled: This & That on a Monday

Today is such a powerful feast day. Think about it. Our salvation came—and comes—via the cross. Do we dare embrace it? And do we ask for help to embrace it?

I am still thinking about the events of September 11, 2001 this morning. Have you had a chance to read the comments on my post? Wow. My heart goes out to those who lost someone personally, and I am praying today and tomorrow especially for your intentions.

“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that her warfare is ended,
that her iniquity is pardoned.” (Isaiah 40: 1-2)

On a related note, Michelle is hosting a discussion on our role in Afghanistan. I am very interested in this subject—ignorant, but interested.

You know how sometimes you receive an outfit for your baby that is a size too big, and then one day (God willing) you think to pull it out and it fits perfectly? Here is Anthony in his fancy new duds, a gift from sunny California. Thank you, Auntie Kristen!

Sharp Dressed Man

He’s smiling so big because we just got back from Mass. Who wouldn’t be happy?

And on one final, joyful note: my friend Tracy’s having a baby! Congratulations, Sweetie! I am so happy for you. (Can I make you some chicken soup for all that nausea? How about some peppermint tea?)

Have a blessed, beautiful week, everyone. Don’t you just love the fall?

All for the Greater Glory of God,

What a happy and handsome baby he is. Hope you (and he) are out of the woods with the fussiness.

I am almost out of the woods this first trimester. Chicken soup and peppermint tea would still hit the spot. Sometimes a mere candy cane works wonders!

Thank you Margaret for giving me space to write about 9/11. I don't think I ever wrote anything about it until last Friday.
