…and a Beating Heart!
Thank you, everyone, for your kind prayers. I am certain that they have helped us throughout this pregnancy because, according to the ultrasound technician, we have a “textbook perfect” baby. : )
[Such a description doesn’t take into account original sin, of course, but hey, I’m not complaining!]
I’ll admit that I cried out of fear on the way there…and then I cried for joy on the way home. Do you know, there was a rainbow around the sun as I was driving back! I kid you not. It started at the horizon and curved up on either side of the sun, and if I’d had my camera I would have pulled over for a photo because I’ve never seen anything like this before—not without it having rained first, anyway, and never in the winter.
I’m giddy. Can you tell?
Breathe. I’ll pause for a moment to breathe now.
Okay. Time for the best part of an ultrasound post—a photo of our little bundle:
And what the heck—here are two more photos for good measure:
I had the same ultrasound technician that I’ve had for two of my miscarriages—beautiful, kind, empathetic Joyce, whom I talked about in this post and who is such a blessing to her profession. I left my rosary there once—I think after losing Baby Thomas—and she called me up directly to say she’d put it in the mail.
And here’s a beautiful story: Joyce told me this morning, after seeing that same rosary in my hands, that she’d taken a photo of it to show her mother. It turns out her mother makes rosaries—thousands of them to send to the missions and whatnot—and after seeing my rosary, (Kimberly’s actually, and it came to me as a gift from Alice after we’d lost Baby Francis), Joyce’s mother started making one in a similar style.
I’m trying to remember to breathe, I really am, but the mood around here is nothing short of celebratory. Our little “perfect” peanut weighs but ¾ lb—as much as three sticks of butter and as long from head to toe as two sticks placed end-to-end—so Joyce recommended that I make Rice Krispie bars when I got home to show the children how big Baby is.
You can bet I stopped at Walmart to pick up the ingredients.
Yours with gratitude & joy,
PS. We did not peek at the gender. : )

Oh, this is such wonderful news! Honestly, the profile in the top picture looks just like the rest of your kids! And I thought the “V for Victory” pose looked like your little one was extending you a blessing, just like most statues of the Baby Jesus.
God’s continued blessing on you both! 🙂
Margaret,
I’m so happy…and relieved!
God Bless you and that baby!
Aww!
YAY!!!!
Thankyou JESUS!!!!!!

So beautiful and perfect.
Thanks be to God!
My prayers continue to be with you and your little miracle.
Congratulations, Margaret! That is always a great moment when you get a sneak peek at your new family member and find out they’re doing well. By the way, the rainbows you saw are called “sun dogs”. (which doesn’t make them any less providential) May God bless.
Praise God! I’ve always thought u/s profile pics looked like Alfred Hitchcock, but people always look at me funny when I say that.
What beautiful pictures … may GOD continue to BLESS YOU!
