A Party at Pinewood Castle

January 11, 2009 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Friends of the Heart, Minnesota Me, Special Events 13 Comments

My dear friend Tracy and I are over an hour apart, so getting together is always such a treat.

Even if it means getting my [motley] crew dressed & ready & out the door.

And I’m sorry but that’s just the way it is for us these days. I’m the worst of all, you know–a great big slow-moving vehicle is what I am, and if I can get my kids from Point A to Point B and they’re not still in their pajamas or something, I figure I’m doing well.

Anyway.

We were blessed to attend Tracy’s Epiphany Tea yesterday in honor of her Sunshine’s birthday.

Here is Sunshine:

The Beautiful Birthday Girl

Is she not sweet?

And is that a bottle of Smirnoff on the counter behind her? I assure you, it was not in the punch.

Here is a photo of the Epiphany Tea, which–Alice, if you are reading this–was a huge hit and resulted in a whole tableful of Salvation History-savvy kids.

Epiphany Tea Time

Impressive, no?

To my delight, two of my bosom blogging chums were there, along with many other cheerfully snacking adults on the periphery.

Well, most of us were cheerfully snacking. Paula, poor thing, is following the South Beach diet and could only pop one cherry tomato after another into her mouth. Were I a better, stronger woman and friend, (which I’m not), I would have abstained from that cake and ice cream out of sympathy. (More on my weaknesses later. Maybe.)

Here we are–my blogging chum Paula & me:

Paula, Margaret & Dancer
Except she may not be my blogging chum anymore after that crack about the cherry tomatoes.

And how do you like that massive belly on yours truly? That’s for those of you who have been demanding politely requesting more tummy shots.

Here is another blogging chum, Laura the Crazy Mama:

Laura the Crazy Mama

…who in addition to being crazy is also beautiful and funny and very sweet. (Don’t tell her I told you.)

Speaking of sweet, there are many, many things I love about my friend, Tracy, but at the top of the list has to be her playfulness.

As showcased in this photo:

Pinewood Party I

Say Cheese!
(Big, cheesy grins are optional but very welcome.)

And finally, just so you are forewarned & forearmed & armed & ready, (well, maybe not armed & ready), do be advised that my family always insists on bringing big, furry guests to every event we attend.

Ellie's Former Owners

Which, if you are that big, furry guest’s former owner, makes you wild with glee.

(Tracy’s husband’s response, though? Now that’s another story. ; )

It was a wonderful, fun-filled day–a beautiful party at Pinewood Castle, and none of my kids even broke anything.

To my knowledge.

Ever willing to move from online to IRL, I am

I will always be your friend. I’m on the couch today – due to the tomatoes. The dogs went nuts when we got home – they could smell Ellie! It was great seeing all of you!

    Dear Margaret

Wow you look so good! Are you 42 or 32? There is a radiance to you that can only mean good things. Looks like you had a nice weekend. So did we.

    Cheers – Joolz

Notice the former owner of the dog and dog have the same haircolor? Good thing you didn’t mix them up and bring the wrong one home. I hear the one in the yellow sweatshirt isn’t house trained.

What a LOVELY baby belly!!! I wish I could be your next door neighbour, I would be nice old lady (well middle aged) next door who would let the kids come and pick my raspberries and would love to hear all about their adventures

Maybe we can all meet when my hubby retires from the USN – we’re strongly looking into MN as our resting place. 🙂 Some think we may be nuts, but I think it’s a lovely place (even if exceptionally cold and snowy in the winter). Anyway, we will warm up plenty with our three year tour in HI –

You look wonderful, by the way. What a beautiful woman.

I’ve got to get back to Minnesota- that’s where the party’s at!

Thanks for the belly shot. LOVE IT! You are so beautiful!

So that’s why there were leftover carrots but the tomatoes were all gone!

And for the record – the vodka bottle is re-purposed as a bib holder. Really!

No, nothing broke, but I now have a lost and found pile consisting of one blue crown, a pink plastic ring and bracelet and one pink sock!

Plenty of affordable houses for sale out here in the NW burbs, folks! Move out here and we’ll add an addition onto the house for the next party!
