Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me, Special Events 13 Comments

“With incense sweet our thanks ascend;
Before thy works our powers pall;
Though we should strive years without end,
We could not thank thee for them all.”

(From “A Thanksgiving Poem” by Paul Laurence Dunbar)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Here in Minnesota, we will not be feasting as freely as we might. We have two more little girls who have caught that nasty stomach bug and we will be staying very close to home. In the words of Cate, “I was really looking forward to KFC, but I just don’t think I could manage it!”

It’s a good thing my husband picked up our meal last night, isn’t it? (He had to—they’re not open today.)

So yes, we will do what we can with what we’ve been given, and we will be thankful for it all. Thank you, Lord, for our family. Thank you, Lord, for our friends. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of life—and for this country that we love.

PS. My signature link has been broken for days. That’s why there’s that gap there.

PPS. Yay! It’s finally fixed!

    So sorry those little ones are sick, Margaret. You should cuddle up by the fire all day with hot chocolate and marshmallows. 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving to you and your sweeties!

    Oh, it so nice to hear this type of solidarity, although I am sorry for you!

    Little Boo is sick again, and we had to cancel our company again, and we’ll be going solo again.

    But we are thankful anyway!
    🙂
    Blessings…

    Hope they get to feeling better right quick! We went to a barracks for “Turkey and trimmings brunch” with the single sailors, but I came home early (our kids came with me and dad stayed behind) . . . with only one stall open for business, I had to go home where there were three available ’round the clock. So, some bug has got me, too. OF course, it’s harder on the wee ones – so I’ll offer up all this blech for your girls.

    Get well, stay well, and God bless your Thanksgiving!

    I feel your pain dear. Our boys came down with the stomach bug last night, so we are staying home instead of going to my folks.

    But bless their hearts, my parents provided us with our share of the Byerly’s precooked meal, so we still get the feast…just heat and eat 🙂

    I hope everyone feels better soon. What a bummer about that stomach bug. 🙁 Happy Thanksgiving to you and that beautiful family of yours….and remember to find an endocronologist in your area soon! 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    We started with the stomach bug on Monday with the baby, and the oldest was hugging the bowl today. Only mommy hasn’t caught it. Yet…

    Hang in there! There is so much we are thankful for, too. 🙂
