A Day at the Lake

June 22, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Family Fun, Minnesota Me 13 Comments

River, actually. Minnesota has one or two of those, as well.

  • We went to: Whitewater State Park
  • Where there was: slightly green water (not that the kids minded)
  • Which in turn was filled with: tadpoles tadpoles tadpoles! (They were so cool.)

I met a friend-of-the-heart and fellow blogger from Texas who is currently vacationing in Wisconsin and who was brave enough to come and meet us. How shameful is this? She made it to the rendevous point on time, but I (the “local”) got hopelessly lost and was an hour late.

Darn those obscure county roads!

Word to the Wise: never just bring your Mapquest print-out. Always have a back-up map, and don’t be too proud to stop for directions. (I’m not a guy. This was not a problem.)

The tadpoles came in all shapes and sizes.
Would you believe we’d never before seen one?
My city kids were so intrigued.
(This is my friend’s son, by the way, not mine.)

There were many serene moments like this one…
up until we were invaded by a herd of summer campers.
At that point, the atmosphere changed considerably.

See what I mean?

Gotta love those day camps. (This one was all ours!)
All in all it was a beautiful day–a happy “official” start to summer.

Can you guess the identity of this mystery blogger?
Hint: she is my very beautiful and oh-so-slightly nutty friend.

LOOKS LIKE A FUN DAY!!!! I had to laugh at the one picture where suddenly the river was invaded.

I read (Nut)Meg’s blog so I could spot her and her 5 “peanuts”.

How fun! Nutmeg doesn’t look a day older than she did in college! You both look beautiful, as always.

No fair that you can both manage to look so gorgeous, at the lake, in the summer! I’d be a wilted mess.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful day!

I’ll clue you in a little blogging secret, Melissa: take the “important” photos at the beginning of the day! 😉

Minnesota is the place to be this summer! Well, of course it is–with you there, is it any wonder that the world is flocking?

You are both beautiful, as are the dear children! Such sweeties!
