You already know that I’m distractable, right?
And that, in addition to being distractable, I am also slightly manic.
I sit, I spin, I sip more coffee.
Which sometimes helps and sometimes doesn’t, all that caffeine.
We are smack dab in the middle of what I call crunch time, my friends. I have end-of-the-year tests to organize as well as the planning of learning games & reviews before these tests so that my happy little brood of fish does swimmingly.
“What do you mean, you don’t know what a homonym is? And what are the seven sacraments again? The ‘Spirit of ’76!’ Come on! Who was he?”
Mind you, I am not one to be done with “school” come the summer. We do, however, spend far less time learning at the table than we do, say, at the park.
All this to say that currently my head’s awash with responsibilities and my eyelashes (sigh) still fairly salty with last night’s tears. (I’m sneaking this in here so that you pray for me. It may be hormonal but I am feeling ever so overwhelmed at present. I know you understand.)
Meanwhile, this little blog looks at me accusingly, as if to say, “Me, too! I need your time and attention, too!” I shouldn’t be so anal about it—it is, after all, in the words of my beloved husband, “just a blog.” I agree. I really do agree with this sentiment and wish I didn’t get so caught up in what I “owe” this little website.
It’s supposed to be all in fun, darn it.
With maybe a pithy little message stuck in here and there, for good measure.
Ad majorem Dei gloriam. Eternal truths and lasting beauty and all that.
Which reminds me to remind you that I still haven’t finished my “Thoughts of Oahu” series yet. Does it matter? Will you tell me? I have one final post in me: the one titled “Eternal Truths and Lasting Beauty” and the one that I’ve been putting off because it promises to be a bit more meditative than (I’m telling myself) I have time to write and because it deals with death, which can be depressing.
And I’m thinking you might not be in the mood for that. A person’s blog is pretty arbitrary. We never know where our blogging friends are going to take us or if we are even up for the ride. Welcome to the world of blogging!
(By the way, now is the time to stop, reread the four opening lines of this post, and nod slowly to yourself saying, “Ah yes. I see where she was going with all that.”)
Little Miss Stream of Consciousness, I am.
I’m asking you to choose* because pathetically, I can’t. I’m planning my post for next Tuesday–one of three that I have on the docket–and I’m asking you to tell me what you’re in the mood for:
- The Hawaii post, (with pre-death-of-my-camera photos!) as detailed above;
- A post on the innumerable responsibilities of motherhood titled “Playing House;”
- Or finally, a post on the hazards of co-existing with 6 people who can (ahem) be messy, titled “Things Go Missing.”
Thank you, my friend! Have a blessed weekend and get a ton of good things done.
*I know I’ve been asking a lot lately in terms of audience participation. This is pretty presumptuous of me and I think, in part, it’s ‘cause I’m feeling lonely and just need to know you’re out there.

I blog for love, too. How are you? Things Go Missing sounds like a good one. Happens here all the time!
Jill says
Ooh…they all sound good. But, I’m going to have to vote for, “Playing House.”
Jamie says
HI Margaret!
I have to say “Playing House” also. I would love the others too, though, maybe you could do one for each month of the Summer? I will pray for those emotions, God made us emotional creatures, didn’t He? I am still here and still care, just busy. with. Life.

Hi Margaret! It’s funny how the other aspect of blogging, besides what you mentioned in this post, is simply knowing that others are going through the same thing as you – feeling overwhelmed, a little lonely at times, etc. etc. So thanks for being willing to share even those things.
All your topics sound good, but “Things Go Missing” particularly jumped out at me. Hmmm. I wonder what that says about me. 🙂

ANYTHING you write, Sweet Lady, I anxiously await!
My prayers are with you for WHATEVER you might be needing at the moment.
God Bless You! God Loves You! And so do we!!!

Margaret, I’m still here – just quieter than usual. I would love to read about your Hawaii trip more. And I will certainly include you in my prayer.
Elizabeth says
‘Playing house’ gets my vote. I’ll pray for you, too.
Paula in MN says
I’d like to read them all, but since I will be in your neck of the woods on Friday, it would be fun to read about Playing House before that.
Cheryl says
I think “Playing House” sounds interesting.

Um, Margaret? We homeschool so that we don’t have to freak out about tests and such. Please give yourself a break, Sweetheart. And write whatever you are moved to write. Or don’t write if you are moved to not write. And we will love you just the same.

I love reading everything you write, but I guess I would go with #3 … always fun to read things that go missing. Co-existing with a lot of people can be fun and challenging.
I also wanted to thank you for the kind e-mail. I wanted to respond earlier , but I have been a little wrapped up … homeschooling conference and my Dad who is living his last days under the care of my Mom and hospice (tough time).
You offer up a wonderful example of a great family who educates, loves, and prays together!
Sarah says
I want to read them ALL, so any of them sounds good to me. I’ve been missing myself a bit lately…but I’m catching up slowly on the archives and sending you some love and prayers. As Kitchen Madonna says…mwah mwah (that’s an air kiss). 🙂
Melissa says
Okay, having been away from the computer most of yesterday, I am just now reading this and relating all too well! I know exactly what you mean about feeling lonely and needing to know others are out there.
And, regarding your posts? I’d love to hear more on all of them. At whatever time you choose, no pressure!
Angie says
They all sounds great — but I’ll vote for Things Go Missing

I see so much of myself in you…which is why I don’t have a blog. 🙂 All 3 posts sound like they could end up being kind of negative / depressing. I hope that whichever you pick is positive and uplifting for you (and us) 🙂

Well, this is your blog- so surprise us! But Things Missing would be my vote. My husband seems to share some of your personality traits, and your writing helps me to better understand where he’s coming from on different issues. He is a very organized guy- I’m working on the organization thing. He does NOT understand how things can get misplaced and it doesn’t bother me. He would spend an hour to find the baby’s missing green sock-I say “it’ll turn up. It’s probably in the ‘fridge!”

By the way, I second and third and fourth Danielle’s point! 🙂
