The Loveliness of Romance is a mere 9 days away!
You may want to make the reservations at your favorite restaurant TODAY, (if you haven’t already done so) and at the same time, start working on your post!
The fair will be hosted here in Minnesota, where the temperature is currently an invigorating 5 degrees BELOW zero. You do not need to pack your swimsuit.
Nor do you have to have a blog to enter. You can also e-mail me with your story and/or photos.
I would like to receive your entries by Sunday, February 11. The fair will take place the following Monday.
Any questions? Leave a comment below.
And here are some bonus “romantic” links to get you going:
You can find “elegant (and Christian!) gifts for your valentine” here. I especially liked the I Corinthians 13 silk tie.
Here are some St. Valentine’s Day Ideas from Catholic Culture.org.
Or how about trying St. Valentine’s Day.org?
Nothing says “I love you” like flowers. (Right, guys?) Here is a link to The Language of Flowers.
Candles, too, are awfully romantic.
So is chocolate, for that matter.
And while we’re at it, let’s throw in some Valentine’s Poems.
If you’re still stuck, here’s a website full of ideas (some are a bit….intimacy related, so be warned) on how to Love One Another.
Where would the real romance be without the inspiration of Married Saints?
A brief perusal of the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s section on the Sacrament of Matrimony never hurts.
I like the title of this article: Channels of Grace.
And finally, anything by Christopher West is sure to be helpful. Here is a good article to get you thinking on the meaning of married love and how it’s been distorted by the media.
Have fun with this one, my friends! A chance to grow in love and eat more chocolate? I’m there.

Margaret. This is a GREAT post. I had no idea what to do for the fair, but I think maybe I’ll be able to post something, thanks to you. God bless you.
Matilda says
Is it OK if we focus on St. Valentine even though he is not the primary saint of the day and it isn’t the Loveliness of St. Valentine’s Day?
minnesotamom says
Matilda, if he or she is a saint then he or she is welcome at the Fair! So yes, yes and yes. We love our priest, Fr. Valentine!
And thank you, Ruth. We’d love it if you joined in!
Hallie says
I keep seeing these great lovliness fairs around but I’m not sure what they are exactly. Can you help little old ignorant me? 😉
Thanks!

Hallie: I like to think of the Loveliness Fairs as variations on a theme (which has been provided for you).
Write up your post on “romance” using some of these ideas as necessary. Then submit your URL (or an e-mail, or some photos) to me, using the e-mail address listed under my profile.
