Note to Self: If the cheese lady at Sam’s Club refers to your selection as “fairly assertive,” your children (and your guests’ children, for that matter), are not going to enjoy it.
And they will tell their hostess so, politely but most emphatically.
Advent/Pre-Holiday Tip #2: For every chunk of Emmentaler you bring home, pick up a nice mild colby to go along with it.
Bonus Advent/Pre-Holiday Tip #3: My very favorite cheese to have on hand is Boursin. It’s a soft, spreadable French cheese that you’ll find in the deli. Add a loaf of bread & a bottle of wine and you’ve got your appetizer.

I want to come to your house and eat cheese and drink wine! I love funky cheeses. And being Italian, I don’t have to tell you how much I love a good glass of wine. But me being pregnant and our living about 1,300 miles apart might make our wine and cheese party a bit difficult to pull off, huh?

LOL! My brother in law was just telling me that he purchased all sorts of cheeses for a party at Costco and every last variety was horrible!
Thanks for the tips.

I have also found that however much dh and I enjoy goat cheese, it frightens most guests, especially those who think Velveeta is actually cheese.
