Rest in Peace, dear Mama

April 26, 2017 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Going Home, Marriage, Motherhood, Prayer, Spiritual Growth 10 Comments

We’re never ready to lose the people we love, even when we know they are ready to go. My dear sweet Mama passed away on Monday morning—peacefully, in her sleep, around 9:00 a.m. in Breckenridge, Minnesota. It was a bittersweet departure, as she was to be joining my father that day at his Assisted Living facility.

Mama & Papa

God has a greater plan, however—a plan for ALL of us, a plan for eternity. When I think of my mom—of Rita Elizabeth (Labine) Ethier—I think, “God couldn’t have given me a better mother. What a wonderful life. She truly lived it to the full.”

Today we are grieving…and we are grateful. Please in your charity pray for the repose of my mother Rita’s soul; pray for her (heartbroken) husband, George; and pray for my sisters, my brother, my family.

Above all, please live your life to the full. Live well, laugh often, and of course, love much.

Make as many memories as you can.

My dear Margaret, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a beautiful woman, loving wife, and sweet, sweet mom and grandma. I’ll keep you all in my prayers. Please let me know if you need anything, and I mean that.

Margaret, I am so sad for you. It will be tough! I love your mommy….I enjoyed the montage. She was so glamorous and beautiful…but she clearly knew what was most important. At the end it was the little hair clip, the rosary around her necklace, and love for all of you…so poignant.
