In the Summertime, when the Weather is Fine

July 6, 2016 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Minnesota Me, Motherhood 5 Comments

Has it really been over a month since I posted?

You’re probably thinking I’m all like:

Summer III

When in truth it’s been more like:

Summer IV

With a little bit of…

Summer II

…thrown in for good measure.

In short, these active kids are keeping me BUSY, but it’s all good (truly) and even when it’s not good?

It’s still all good.

But busy, yes, I’ve got that one covered. You would think I’d blog hourly just to glamorize my existence! There’s pee on the wall and a hole in the ceiling; I’ve got four—count ‘em, FOUR!—teens under one leaf-splattered roof; and yet…

And yet…

This busy summer is going great. I have a lot to talk about after my one-month hiatus, like

  • A homeschooling conference with Sarah Mackenzie;
  • A frenetic but fun week of CVBS;
  • My Netflix review for the month of June; and
  • My attempts to foster the very best habits. This one’s been the trickiest one of all, because in a full-to-bursting life such as ours, (I’m including you which I know you’ll appreciate), how in the world does one ever choose? It’s the day-to-day choices that can be overwhelming—the “where and who does God want me to be?” that, for me anyway, has been an area of much discernment.

“He wants you on Facebook,” says Distracted Girl.

“No He doesn’t,” replies Boring Housewife. “He wants you in the kitchen doing dishes.”

“Are you kidding?” squeals Mrs. Well-Read Mom. “Go read Brothers K, for crying out loud! I mean, it’s only 985 pages long!”

And on and on and on it goes.

One thing I do know: the days are flying past, and I’m happiest when I commemorate them. So blogging it is, for the foreseeable future! That’s why God invented coffee, right? So I could get up earlier and get more done.

Summer I

Besides, you know, taking pictures of 3-year-olds in the street.

Yes, those are headlights in the background.

Yes, it was worth it. I got the shot. 😉

See you soonish?! One can hope.

      I’ve been studying habit change for about a year now, Laura. It’s fascinating! Now to turn all those thoughts into action…

    This Mom life really is glamorous, I mean I seriously think if I installed a black light in the boys bathroom that place would light up like a rave party.
    The shot with the headlights in the background – that is so me, I am glad to know someone else works at grabbing these priceless moments and is all the while judging the ‘danger’ balance. As always, love your blog!
