My “Most” Posts from 2013

January 2, 2014 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Depression, Minnesota Me 5 Comments

Of all the link-ups that are online these days—and goodness knows, there are a lot of them—I’ve decided to try my hand at Sarah’s “Most” Posts.

One, I love Sarah. She does great good on the internet! Two, and this is important for a sidetracked mom like me, I felt that I needed to spend some time being grateful for the past year. It’s why I keep this blog, really—the family archives, the captured pics, the laughter—besides having the chance to stay in touch with all of you, of course.

(It’s also why I got up at 4:00 to start on this post. These days are full, full, full, you guys—so if I’m not posting as much on this blog as I’d like to…or if I’m not leaving as many comments on your blogs as I want…that’s why.)

(In heaven, I’ll have all the time I need. I’ll read blogs and write novels and love God and scrapbook.)

(I won’t need coffee but I’ll still drink it, just ’cause.)

So here we go!

My post with the most clicks was The Good, the Bad, and the Funny: A Birth Story.

Generally speaking, one of my posts has around 500 views. (Generally speaking.) This post, though, had well over a thousand, which just goes to prove this crucial blogging wisdom: Nothing boosts your blog stats like a cute new baby.

Frankly, that’s as it should be.

Second in the “Most Clicks” category was From His Cradle to my Cross because, hey, a new baby and a near-crippling bout with postpartum depression? Now the good times are really rolling!

Seriously, it’s good for us to talk about these things.

The post with the most comments, I think, was Heaven will be Better, though half of them were mine which is kind of cheating.

But then there was the Love is Everything post, which asked for prayers following my father’s cancer diagnosis and whose comments were you–all you, my awesome readers.

(My dad’s been cancer-free for months.Tell me your prayers weren’t powerful!)

Now then. Sarah has a category called “the post with the best picture.” Um, Sarah? I had a new baby this past year…as did you {squared}…so my question for you, sweetheart, is: ONE post? You’re asking me to choose ONE favorite picture?

Fine. I pick this pic:

…from this 7 Quick Takes Installment.

(Bonus points for including a video of the magistrate laughing.)

The post that was hardest for me to write was the one that I wrote during my darkest hour: Stick a Fork in Her (this Blogger’s Done). There is wisdom that comes from St. Ignatius and his discernment of good/bad spirits. “In times of desolation,” he wrote, “never make a change.” Blogging depressed is like blogging drunk; you’re not quite responsible for what you say, and you are sure to regret it the following morning.

Except…

It opened the door for more frank discussion and that was a good thing, I think.

Finally, we’ve arrived at the very last category: the post that was my personal favorite. You know what? I don’t really have one. Honestly, I’m happy every time that I click “publish” because writing is one of my favorite things.

(Bonus points for touching your heart now and then. You touch mine too…and I thank you.)

Happy 2014, everyone! May you and yours be blessed beyond measure.

A great post and oh, I am so glad your dear old Dad is doing fine. That baby, I could just eat him up, nappy hat and all! 🙂

Hooray! My favorite Maggie linked up!!! 🙂 Isn't it soooo impossible to choose one favorite photo when there's a new baby (or two?!) in the house? Hee!

I plan to have twins in 2014 too, because apparently doing so is good for blog traffic. And the world revolves around blog traffic. 😉 Ha!

Love you, friend. Thanks for always being there for me.
