Seven Posts in Seven Days

July 21, 2013 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Just Me, Minnesota Me 12 Comments

Well, my friend, I’ve gone and done it. [gulp] I linked up to Jen’s 7-Day Blogging Challenge.

Seven posts in seven days, as per the title of this post.

[another gulp]

[Is that coffee she’s swallowing? Or is it her fear?]

I could relate to so much of what Jen said in her link-up description that I thought, perhaps, God was speaking to me. Either that or Jen just knows her audience, which is ultimately the goal of every writer.

For example. In reference to her favorite bloggers posting more often, Jen remarked, “I would rather they throw together a short imperfect post than not update at all.” So true! That is exactly how I feel about some of my favorite blogs, e.g. the ever-wonderful  As Cozy as Spring. (Ahem, Jenn!) When she writes, I dig right in.

Another thing that Jen (the former) said is that writing daily will help us overcome perfectionism. This is HUGE for me. I dream big; I procrastinate even bigger.

Best of Friends, Worst of…

Finally, Jen mentioned the possibility of writing “just what one of your readers needs to hear that day.” That one really resonated with me, because I am sometimes tempted to think I have nothing to offer. I mean, everyone and their dog has a blog these days, and should I really be adding to all that noise? (Sorry. I’m certainly not talking about your blog when I refer to “all that noise.”)

Yet, at the heart of that sentiment is really pride. It is a false humility to think that you don’t matter because you’re not getting as much attention as the next guy. In truth, we ALL matter, very much, and if it makes us happy to keep a record of the journey…

“Oh, that’s so cute!” Angela crooned. “It looks like he’s sucking on play doh!”

Well, then, by all means…that’s what we should do.

Here’s this week’s blogging schedule, as per the anal planner in me:

Monday: Something light-hearted to start the week.

Tuesday: A blog post related to parenting. I’ve got teens, ‘tweens and terrorists in this house. I’m sure I can come up with something. (In fact, I know already what I’ll be posting. It’s a post on accompanying my teen driver on the freeway. Yes, reader, I lived to tell the story!)

Wednesday: “Weigh-In Wednesday”

Thursday: This one’s a grab bag for all you adventurous types! You just never know what you’ll get on Thursday—might be anecdotal, might be a recipe, might be a link-up to LMLD or Clan Donaldson. In other words, I DON’T YET KNOW.

Friday: Family Fun

Saturday: Spirituality

Sunday: My favorite photos from the past week.

* * * * *

And there you have it! I am fervently hoping that these daily themes will help me just do it and that you’ll find something of merit in at least one of the posts.

No small task…though it does sound like fun.

How about a before and after bedroom update? We did a little bedroom moving this week too!

I'm excited, I love seeing posts from you. You are my favorite and always will be. There I said it. You were my first. (OK, Danielle Bean was, but who's checking?)

And last but not least, Is that your boob?

I am looking forward to it! I am also joining in, nervous, as I have been barely blogging lately.

I love what you have written here, especially this – In truth, we ALL matter, very much, and if it makes us happy to keep a record of the journey…

    You have encouraged my heart.

Looking forward to reading you each day. I'll be here, even if I don't comment, which lately seems that I rarely do to anyone. It's mostly because I'm almost always reading a day (or two or three) late. I blame summer brain. 😉

I enjoy all your posts and agree that a short imperfect post is better than no post! Looking forward to this week.

I enjoy them all! But, as far as contributing to noise….THIS is why I like blogging better than facebook. It's not in my face unless I choose to click and dig in…when I want 🙂

Thank you, Margaret. I feel the same way about you. (And I think I'll come back in August. It's just been a full summer.) That's a beautiful nursing shot. Have fun this week! I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you, Margaret! Your thoughts here really resonate with me. Everything you made note of, those are my general issues with blogging/not blogging. Really gave me something to think about.
And way to go on posting that nursing shot! Love, love, love it. That is one to treasure. God bless you this week!
