17 Years & Counting

December 29, 2012 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Marriage, Minnesota Me, Special Events 17 Comments

Counting the blessings today that have taken us, literally, on the ride of a lifetime.

From this:

Our First Year!

To this:

Our Wedding

To this:

Total Surrender
(Seven times over…and then some)

To this:

Berns Family Photo August 2011

And now this:

First Bath I
The icing on the cake!

God is so good, so very good.

Many, many years ago, my mother gave each of her six children a photo album. On the inside cover, she drew a large ornate circle with this inscription: “A family is a circle of love” and included all of our names within it. Of course, there have been many names added to the list since then, but that’s the beautiful thing about a family. It grows to accommodate every last member; it grows and grows and its love knows no limits.

Happy anniversary to my honey! I never “expected” all that life has sent us, and for that…well, yeah, I am truly grateful.

I cried through this whole thing….because I know along with these moments, are ups and downs
(having been through them myself) yet in the end, it's all worth it and all good.

    Happy Anniversary my friend.

Why does YOUR anniversary make ME teary-eyed?! It has got to be because so many of us have trailed along with you two for several years. Ahh, you two cute kids šŸ™‚ Happy 17th to a very special and inspiring couple. Many wishes for oodles of years ahead of wedded ups and downs!

Happy Anniversary, Margaret & John! Teary here, too. DH & I just celebrated our 30th on Wed., and renewed the vows after Mass… Unexpectedly, both of us got all choked up! Our pastor said, "Gee, it's usually easier when you've been through it before…" I think it is because now we know how hard it can get, and we know how totally inadequate we are, how we've messed up many times over, and yet God can take this mess and make something beautiful out of it. – Love is patient, love is kind – "Your task is to make each other saints," was a favorite saying of another priest. Not always a smooth process! Good thing there is a well-spring of grace in this sacrament.
Here's to many more wonderful years!
